Interesting price realized in HA.com's recent Morgan Dollar VAM auction

I noticed an ANACS VF35 1896-O micro O Dollar realized $1440 in this auction.
Didn't know auction houses will allow these in their auctions since they are considered counterfeit. Maybe I should find the few I still have stashed away since I didn't sell them prior to 2005 when PCGS announced these coins not genuine issues of the New Orleans mint.

I think the old ANACS holder had a lot to do with it. After 2005, nobody certified them anymore. So a pre-2005 holder (ANACS, NGC, PCGS) will add a lot to the price.
Interesting, though, that the same coin (in the same holder) sold for $552 in the previous Heritage auction of December 2023.
I don't know if Heritage would ever offer a non-slabbed micro-o vintage "privately made" coin.
Be interesting to see if more certified bogus micro O $1's turn up in reputable auctions.
Nearly a triple in less than a year. Nice score for the seller.
For comparison, here is the finest known VAM-listed privately-made Morgan (of any date or variety).
It is not certified because I discovered it after 2005. I believe it is MS64, which was previously unheard of for a vintage counterfeit Morgan Dollar.
Now that's COOL!
