Seated Liberty Design Coinage Question

erwindocerwindoc Posts: 5,113 ✭✭✭✭✭

This design covers several denominations. I have never collected anything with this design as all of the series are all very long and have lots of tougher dates and expensive coins. To the experts out there, which series is the most completable? Are date sets doable?

Trade dollars are sort of under the Seated Liberty design. Date/mm set is 17 coins and doable in a variety of conditions.

Half dimes are the most completable, but also a shorter set than the dimes, quarters, and halves. Date sets are very doable for every denomination except dollars. In my opinion, the quarters are the most challenging. Good luck!

Only if you exclude the unique 1870-s.

But if you know the person who owns it, you might be able to borrow it temporarily to complete your set.
I know @epc has a photo from a couple of years ago with the 1870-s in his case, completing his set.

Could create a new concept, "Rent a key".
Maybe not that much different from how things are already done,
where sometimes a person will complete their set and then sell it shortly after.

Attempting to complete the seated halves is bankrupting me.

I thought that I mentioned this earlier, but a Seated Liberty Type Set (7070) worked out nice for me before I broke it up. 😬

In the past I did a date set of Seated Half Dollars. Right now I am doing a Seated Date set but I am using every denomination : half dime thru dollar. James
