Red Sox set new franchise record, etc.
They have now committed 101 errors this season.
IMO, the team is in total disarray and their manager, Cora, is the prime reason why. Star players aren't starring, and it appears they're at the "mail it in" stage. It is interesting to see those that have been jettisoned by Red Sox management, appear to be excelling in their new teams. Mookie and Schwarber are cases in point. I was never a fan of Sale while he was with the team, but he is tearing it up with the Braves and should receive a Cy Young this year, now with 15 wins. A head scratcher.
“We are not playing well right now. It’s not going our way right now,” manager Alex Cora told reporters. “We have to show up tomorrow and try to win a game. We are running out of time.” How inspirational.
Now at 10.5 back in the division, and 4.5 back in the WC, Red Sox Nation is now facing yet a 3rd consecutive pathetic placing this season. It is fairly likely they could finish in last place for the 3rd season in a row. Either way its a dismal finish for the team...not to mention the Orioles and Yankees are on the horizon.
As the season mercifully comes to a close with 23 games to play, one wonders what, if any moves are ahead for the franchise in the off season. The thought of being stuck with Cora for 3 more years is stunning.

I agree with you once in a while Al and this is that time. Cora is not the person they need at the helm of the ship. They did not get rid of him when he had one year to go on his contract so I am sure they will not get rid of him now.I most likely will not be around for all 3 years of that contract so have seen the World Series 3 times in my lifetime , unlike my father who never did, so I won't complain about not.
As to what they can do to be better next year it is not what they can do but what they are WILLING to do. They need pitching badly and there is not a lot on the horizon so they will probably trade some of their stars from this year to get a couple of worn out pitchers for next year. On and on it goes with management of the team.
Wow
The Chris Sale thing has to hurt. His contract with the Sox kinda sucked and he was injured and ineffective but then they get a chance to dump him and he becomes the old Chris Sale again.
As far as the manager, I think every fan complains about their manager. Yankee Nation has been crucifying Boone for years now. He says the same thing after losses: "Stanton got some good swings today" after striking out 4 times and things like that. They can't just say "we sucked today".
I have not liked Cora for a long time now.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
when you have mistlin at short what do you expect
dude has been booting balls all season long
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
I wonder how many losses were caused from those errors.
Managers are always tough. You never really know how much is their decision and how much is what the front office is telling them to do. Look at Roberts with the Dodgers, I do believe he is a bad manager because he has the clout to say no to the front office at this point but every time they make the playoffs they change their style of play.
I dont think Cora is necessarily a great manager, but theres also only so much you can do with a roster. Hes certainly disliked by lots of fans for his role in the Astros cheating, but hes also taking heat for the front office and owners for roster that has been assembled

Cora's laughing all the way to the bank, having just been given 3 more years at $7m per. I have ZERO sympathy for Cora, and I stand by my long standing opinion that he should have been banned from baseball for his cheating scandal while with the Astros. Having been slapped with a one year ban only allowed him to chill in Puerto Rico.
We in Red Sox Nation can lay this at the feet of the uber INCOMPETENT, Chaim Bloom (chief baseball officer), who, after claiming an "exhaustive search" of 9 candidates, whittling it down to 5, then Sam Fuld (then with the Phillies) was "neck and neck", and the Bloomer selected a loooooooser.
Cora knowingly participated in an event that is clearly in violation of MLB rule 21.
Rule 21
MISCONDUCT
(a) MISCONDUCT IN PLAYING BASEBALL. Any player or person connected with a Club who shall promise
or agree to lose, or to attempt to lose, or to fail to give his best efforts towards the winning of any
baseball game with which he is or may be in any way concerned, or who shall intentionally lose or
attempt to lose, or intentionally fail to give his best efforts towards the winning of any such baseball
game, or who shall solicit or attempt to induce any player or person connected with a Club to lose or
attempt to lose, or to fail to give his best efforts towards the winning of any baseball game with which
such other player or person is or may be in any way concerned, or who, being solicited by any person,
shall fail to inform the Commissioner (in the case of a player or person associated with a Major League
Club) or the President of the Minor League Association (in the case of a player or person associated with
an independent Minor League Club) immediately of such solicitation, and of all facts and circumstances
connected therewith, shall be declared permanently ineligible.
I will never be convinced that there weren't more talented and deserving managers, or potential managers waiting somewhere within the MLB world that, if given a shot, would not have easily excelled in the role and could have led the Red Sox to a winning, or at least competitive season.
The Astros penalties were light, but other teams were doing it too including the Red Sox and Yankees and had been warned about it. The Astros just took it to an egregious level not even trying to hit it with the big tv right down the dugout stairs. MLB couldnt suspend the whole league so just gave some of them basically a vacation at worse.
I do certainly agree that Bloom and his body of work is overrated. The Rays were average at best many of the years he was running Tampa. Hes been running Boston like its Tampa and theres going to be a lot of bad years mixed in there doing that. Giving away Sale for nothing was stupid. Im happy for Sale that they did since a lot of Boston fans disliked him, but it was a bad baseball decision
