@USMC This is a 1st Alcatraz token I've seen. Thanks for showing it.

Yeah, they're nice but apparently have very little interest from collector's.. It's been on Ebay for almost a week and has 2 bids. I'll probably end the auction tomorrow and take it to a coin show Token table..
@USMC a lot of bidders wait to the late day/hiur/minute. I have learned this through being out bid several times.

I know.. not taking a chance of it selling for 10 bucks.. My other auctions are doing very well.. so that tells me there are more interested bidders. I understand what you are saying though.
I'm top bidder right now and am ready and willing to snipe it at the end for much more.
Please don't kill the auction early!

I get it, but if it doesn't show some action soon, I'm pulling it. I have way too much in to it to let it go for peanuts. We can either come to a deal off Ebay, it goes to a Token dealer, or I keep it.
Sorry, not getting my throat cut on it.

@USMC_6115 Looks like you pulled the Alcatraz token at the 11th hour. It sucks when sellers do this. If you’re squeamish about putting stuff on eBay with no reserve I recommend you simply start the bidding at the minimum amount you’ll accept for the item. That way we don’t play games. Just saying.

Ya thanks for the advice... if you were interested maybe you should have shown interest and bid stronger. I'm not "squeamish" just not going to get my throat cut! If it bothers you, oh well! Not that it matters, but this is the third time I listed it. The last time was at a "minimum" amount I would except and it didn't sell. This time I tried it at .99 and got very little interest. Thanks, but I'll just keep it! Just saying!
I'm late to this thread and have no experience with tokens but that token is very neat. How much were you asking for it? Is that corrosion or just discoloration of the copper?
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

It is a nice token. I bid a couple of times on Friday but was preoccupied with a college football game yesterday. I guess I should have bid a few more times. It is a great piece of history. I visited Alcatraz in 1978 when I was in the USN, a once in a lifetime memory. Good luck with the token.

I don't think it's corrosion, just good ole crud maybe @DCW can chime in. He's the one I originally purchased it from and far more knowledgeable on them than I.
In my opinion, it has some staining, and it very well may have some light corrosion. Most survivors spent some time in the fridgid waters of San Francisco Bay and have issues. This is a totally acceptable example from this historic fort. From the days before it became a famous federal penitentiary.
Here is a truly roached example that brought $530 a couple of years back:
I'd never own one that was corroded to that degree. The OP's example was in my own collection until I upgraded.
They're not so easy to come by!
