I bought this coin recently, how would you grade, is this a better vam? Thanks.

Middle AU, thereabouts. Pictures cold be better. Looks from these a little flat, like it was rubbed.
There are 17 VAMs in the Top 100 List for the 1878 8TF -- that's a pretty big chunk. You'll need to do some research to see if yours is one of those 17. I agree that it's solidly in the AU range. PCGS' price guide shows a range from $170 for AU50 to $270 for AU58, not counting any additional value added by VAMs.

AU53
Hard to be sure but it appears cleaned. If not cleaned my guess is AU55 possibly 58 which would mean it would sell for around $200. It’s a somewhat common Morgan.
Casual collector, mostly Morgans & Peace Dollars.
I’m not certain about the cleaning but if I had to bet, I’d go AU Details (cleaned).
Smitten with DBLCs.
It appears to be a A1C reverse.
Need better obverse photos.
Fair chance you have a Vam 3 or 4, but if not this gives you somewhere to start.
Reverse A1C - Letters in UNITED doubled strongly on top and bottom. STATES OF AMERICA letters doubled at bottom. ONE DOLLAR letters doubled at top. Left wreath strongly doubled. Three small feathers added on eagle's right and two on eagle's left side between leg and bottom of wing.
The A1c reverse is shared by Vams 3, 4, 5, 14-6, 14-7, 14-11, 14-12, 14-14, 14-17, and 14-18. All but VAMs 3 & 4 are major rarities.
I believe it's actually the A1j reverse and therefore a VAM-14 Chip In Ear (a common Vam).
Yeah, that looks like a better match.
I saw the doubling on the reverse but was having a hard time with the photos.
