NHL star Johnny Gaudreau, brother killed in New Jersey bike accident
This one describes what the absolute idiot did…

I had to know the details but now I regret knowing because… what a special kind of idiot this guy must be.
File this guy under “unnecessary”.
I subscribe to the 6:00 pm rule of driving. In a nutshell it means no matter how rushed, fast, speeding, etc you drive, 6:00 pm or any time you choose is going to eventually come. Driving as if you are in a big hurry is one of the dumbest things any regular driver can do behind the wheel, for so many different reasons. Of course an emergency vehicle is different.
Suffice to say nothing good ever comes out of driving carelessly. Now this guy is going to find this out the hard way as this event has ruined his life as well as destroyed two others.
and to pour a dumptruck's worth of salt into the wound, their sister's wedding is/was supposed to be today...not to mention Johnny has two kids under 2 years old.
This is the true definition of tragedy. RIP Johnny hockey. So many lives impacted from the selfish actions of an aggressive driver. Prayers out to the Gaudreau family.
Not to excuse this azzwipe, but the police report said this happened at 8:20pm. According to AccuWeather sunset was 7:35 pm, so they were on the road 45 minutes after sunset. Not sure what kind of safety lights the brothers had on their bicycles.
Unfortunately riding on a road or in a bike lane along the road is going to be a death trap. Way too many drunks and other impaired folks behind the wheel.
What an incredibly painful time for the family. Their dad was the hockey instructor at the Hollydell ice rink where the brothers played.
Way too young with so much life ahead of them.
Thoughts go out to their fans and family.

Great to see new members. This is a quality forum.
Read the details. Long time ago with a sober friend at the wheel, we almost got into a similar wreck while he was passing into incoming traffic after dark.
Never worth it to save a few damn seconds or minutes.
Check out the gofundme page for the brother. Very inspiring.

Sean Higgins, accused of fatally striking NHL star Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew Gaudreau with his car while intoxicated, serves on the National Guard and works at a rehab center.
His new career will be making license plates.
Don't bet on it. This country is totally chicken $hit when it comes to drunk drivers, even ones who kill people.
