Ebay question about purchasing BIN

I was looking around Ebay and checking out a few cards that were BIN. When I clicked on the card it indicated that the card was in another buyer's cart and one showed it was in two buyer's cart. Is this something new? If I hit BIN would it bump the cards out of the others cart and I am the purchaser? Most BIN's are way overpriced..... but occasionally some are within reason.

Yes, if you hit the buy it now button, the card is yours and the others with it in their cart miss out. The fact that others have it in their cart is a good indication that the card is fairly priced.

It may also be a tactic used by Ebay to persuade potential buyers to not wait to purchase.

When an item is in your cart, it is just there in spirit! Who ever clicks purchase first (with CC info and everything) and gets it to finish processing first wins. It won't get "kicked out" of the cart till said cart refreshes or a purchase attempt is made and it is already sold.....

Thanks for the responses. Kinda of what I thought. Not getting any FOMO from me. It's just an end of the month process I do with extra dollars....... peruse the bay for upgrades or holes to fill, however, 80% of the time it's just tossed in money market or ETF shares are bought.

No, if you want to see if a card is fairly priced, look in "sold items" under the advanced search option.

Seems to me, because of my own suspicion, that a seller would encourage an "associate" to throw it in their cart so another buyer would go FOMO on it.

Almost certainly that is the case! If not someone would have pulled the trigger already.

You think? The assumption is that is always the first step.

I am amazed daily by the amount of "suspicion" and distrust in the world. Things are not always as bad as they seem. I suppose it could be "associates". Or more likely it could be actually someone who is interested in it.

Old tactic. Better hurry up and buy this house, car etc. I have another interested party.

eBay is a hotbed of suspicion. It's been a known fact for years. It shouldn't hinder the willingness to transact with a seller if you see an item you really want. It doesn't matter what cart it's in - hit the button, you win.

    Enjoy the go.

I use the CART as a top watch list. It's so much easier to find in my cart than to go through pages and pages and pages to find a item I'm watching.
My daughter was looking on my Ebay and said to me why does your cart say you have $18,000. in items in your card. I explained to her it is much easier to find top items I'm watching.
