Stolen bases abound this year

So how are these speedsters getting compared to guys from the past like Rickey Henderson ?
The bags are bigger than they were then so a couple of inches makes a big difference in safe or out !
Ohtani is real fast and has stolen 42 bases already but is it because of a rule change?

    The clock, I suspect.

Similar to the no tackle rules in the NFL making half the QB's look like Marino.

Rule changes and shorter base paths have definitely had a big impact. Last year had over 1000 moire SBs and the highest success rate ever

For me stolen base records should be considered in two parts. The before the rule changes and after. The NFL is a good example where only Marino and Fouts have held up over time. The big 4 sports have all made drastic changes in the rules to increase offense because they believe thats what increases viewership

Wisconsin 2-6 against the SEC since 2007

baseball had to do something though , it was like watching paint dry.
the changes that caused the most tears to flow were the correct ones

  • Evolution will always be with the game. When stealing becomes too prevalent, they will give the pitchers Taser guns and make all the batters wear shorts. Then let's see who leads the league in skin rashes and raspberries.

    Enjoy the go.
