5c 1919S 2Feather FS-401 possibly best die found

Hello, I rely on Ron Pope’s book when it comes to 2Feather varieties, according to the book for 19S date there is no known die that has third feather totally effaced. Now I believe there is one, I found the one, attaching pictures for Your opinions.

Your close up is much too out of focus to see anything meaningful, but from the full obv photo it seems there is still just a hint of the third feather showing.

5 posts, and has discovered the rarest of them all of that variety....................believeable or unbelievable , you tell me

  • @RobertScotLover you might be wrong judging people’s ability to find something by amount of posts on forum. You tell me.

  • @coinbuf I agree pictures aren’t perfect yet looking at the surface there might be a bump but sure not as evident remnant of feather as it is present on coins attributed by TPGs.

I didn't know that you had to have a certain amount of posts to be able to find a rare coin

Try and get some clear photos, it actually looks promising :)

I had a buffalo and straight on pics showed 2 feather but when viewed at 45 degree angle, I could see remnants of feather.

I'd be optimistic from the pictures, but they're far too blurry to make any call one way or the other.

All pictures are poor but looks to me to be the same die as the 19S 2F in the set called Tiffany's 2 Feathers.

Here are 3 1919 Buffs 3rd feather area from PCGS. Take better photos and compare. You may have something. Thanks for sharing. May have enlarged too much, but you can see these accepted 2 feathers coins have only a very slight vestige(if any) of the outline of the feathers.

  • @DCW as soon as it gets delivered I will make way better pictures but yeah, it does look promising.

  • @jesbroken 19P 2Feather comes with no trace of third feather and it is not unusual. 19S isn’t at least until now if my coin has third feather totally effaced it most likely will be first one found.

  • @lunagately thank you. Haven’t seen this set yet all coins on CoinFacts have remnants of third feather. Need to get it delivered and do quality pictures but it sure is one of the best 19S 2F coins.

  • @davewesen yes it does happen yet I there is solid chance that this is not the case.

  • @messydesk I agree, for now it is solid hope. I will be able to confirm it once coin is delivered..
