Gold Scammers

Warning

The scammers are working hard hitting coin and bullion shops.

This is what they do.

They come into your shop usually two or more people together they want to buy gold and silver.

You get it out and they tell you they want to take it with them today. They ask you to put the gold and silver in a box. You put it all in a box and somehow they magically get you to seal the box with tape. They say they have to go get the money, so you hold the box and when they leave they don’t come back. You later open the box and the gold is gone. This happened in Riverside, CA on about 8/1/24 and again on 8/21/24

This silver is used so that you won’t realize the gold is not in the box. (because of the weight)

This scam has been working across the USA for years.

Pay attention don’t get ripped off.

    For the record
I did not post this for the naysayers.

I posted it so the shop owners would be aware. If you own a shop that sells gold these guys are coming so just remember when they ask you to put it in a box something is wrong.

I don’t know why dealers fall for it but many of them do and these crooks are cleaning up.

Thanks for the head's up, I'm not a dealer, but how when you put the contents in the box and seal it, do they get the gold?

I assume the thief's partner distracts the dealer when the switch is made.
