1987 Topps Barry Bonds, and various others
Hello,
I have been going through storage and pulled out my old trading cards. I have a complete 1987 Topps set. From what I am reading they are generally not worth anything but maybe a few cards? I took some pictures. Apparently, the printed this Barry Bonds card with a picture of a different black guy lol. Pretty interesting, and then they have errors which make them valuable. I only know of that one error.
Even if they are not worth a lot monetarily, I enjoy all the cards. My father purchased this set for me on the year I was born. The cards have only been pulled out a few times. They appear to be in order.
I did find this as well.
I have more cards. Various cards from different sets ranging from the years 1980 to the 2000s. The cards have followed me around life. I also have some basketball cards but I don't think they are of any value. I will have to look them up sometime.
Thought I share some pics. I will see what else I can find.

This Bill Mazeroski card was giving to me by my fathers dad. They are from PA and are big fans. This card has some age on it for sure.
Also, if I could share the smell of old trading cards that would be nice but you can't

I was big on the Military at a early age. I believe these were picked up at a Military Surplus store. I am here in NC so they are common. They are old as well. I had opened a few packs when I was young but otherwise they are packaged. The cards are interesting. They have various Military items on them with details on the back of the cards. I have uploaded a few examples.
These cards were sleeved inside the box. I don't recall doing this. Some of these players I am not familiar with.
Your last post with all of the 1987 Topps cards are the big stars back in around 1987. It appears that you kept the biggest stars of 1987 and put them in penny sleeves. None of these are worth much now, but it is fun to go back in time. 1987 was a great year for prospects.

PSA 10's of some those cards are worth $100 or a little more, Raw or PSA 9 or less are practically zilch. Topps printed about 15 million of these and while Mint centered psa 10's are desirable, not much else is.
"Apparently, the printed this Barry Bonds card with a picture of a different black guy lol. Pretty interesting, and then they have errors which make them valuable. I only know of that one error. "
No, that was the correct 'black guy'. You are probably thinking of the 1987 Donruss "Opening Day" set which shows Johnny Ray on Bonds' card.
I may get some of them graded. I am not familiar with the process but I will check it out online. I don't think I would want to sell them. 37 years is a long time to hold on to something.
I need to finish going through them to see if I have anything that stands out.
I'd grade the Desert Storm!
Thanks for the clarification. I thought I had read that but it seems I was mistaken.
every so often i go through some of my childhood collection. the very best part of sportscards are the fact that they are a time machine that sends me right back to the times i purchased those cards.
nostalgia is a powerful drug
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
If you are looking to maximize value, I don't see anything that is worth grading. You have to remember that most cards from this era came out of the pack at PSA 8 or so. Therefore, PSA 10's are rare, hence the reason they can fetch big dollars.

These are a dime a dozen.
You'd lose big money on every card unless it's a PSA 10, and only the top maybe 5 cards, you'd see gains.
Only the Saddam Hussein in a PSA 9 sells for more than $10.
Some examples of recent PSA 9 ebay sales:
The George Bush in a PSA 9s just sold for $6.
The Norman Schwarzkopf in a PSA 9s just sold for $2.
The Mikhail Gorbachev in a PSA 9s just sold for $4.
The Colin Powell in a PSA 9s just sold for $5.
Some other cards I have came across. I found some minor league cards. There is a Kinston team locally and it looks like Boy Scouts issued the cards in some manner. I vaguely recall it. Interesting in any case.
Keep them all for sentimental value because it would be a waste of money to get any of those cards graded. For example, the Darryl strawberry card not only has a dinged corner, but it has a hairline crease as well.
