This Kennedy half is either rusty or nicely toned. Gamble!

The pictures were taken by the seller using a flatbed scanner.
It is a gamble if the coin will look pretty or not.

I would lean towards crusty, not in a good way for my taste. But if that is what you like.

It looks like it's dark environmental damage from moist storage conditions. I have to say Braddick, Your taste in coins is certainly.....unique 😅.

Doesn't look very interesting to me.... pretty dark and likely environmental as mentioned.
eZest will clean that right up. The only question is what lies underneath?
Looks like fire damage maybe someone tossed the coin in a campfire in 86' but who knows. Some find coins with that tone metal detecting.
I'll be optimistic and say it turns out to look nicer than expected.

Just so you don't think all of my purchases are moronic, I did BIN this Kennedy half moments before the above coin:
(See? I do purchase normal, everyday coins...)

Thanks for the clarification 🙂.
I saw this coin being offered for same a little while ago and I thought if you. I tried to buy it, but the price escalated from my level of comfort.

I bid 920, and I was willing to go to about $1200-$1300 but one guy messed everything up when he bid $1022 (don’t ask me why he chose that number, it really annoys me when people throw out weird numbers rather then $10 increments),
Then, he proceeds to outbid himself with a bid of $1522. I made a joke on the post, ribbing him for outbidding himself, and his explanation that it was “still under wholesale”. The cac bid for AG3 is $960, so I questioned him as to what he meant by “wholesale”. That is when he sent me a screenshot of the greysheet values for a Draped Bust Cent, silly goose. It doesn’t matter anyway, because the next guy came over the top when he bid $1,700, which is too rich for my blood.

Ugly.
Looks like a metal detector find.
I hear there's a pill for that these days, but I don't think it would help in this case...

I agree with @Smudge. It has the classic look of a dug piece.

In hand it will most likely be unattractive/ugly.
If, on the other hand, it is a keeper, it will likely have very dark toning that mutes booming luster. Those kinds of coins are not for everyone, but when viewed under good lighting they can have positive eye appeal, particularly if the dark toning is multi colored.
Looking forward to seeing better photographs of the coin after it is delivered.
Not sure if you guys want to gamble on a toned token or not but here you go:
