Hey PSA: Already working on my First PSA Comic Book Sub! And one is a Crackout!
Afternoon,
I am assuming that eventually there will be a Comic Book Forum, but for now........Been wanting this book for awhile but could not make myself spend the $500-$800 that these were running in 9.0 or better during/right after Covid. (I did notice there are Two 8.5's on FeeBay in the $335-$375 range Today.) This is as low as this Book will ever be IMHO, it is a Key Issue being the Very first Mary Jane Watson on an Amazing Spiderman Cover.
Most of the Comic Book Pundits feel we have finally reached or are getting close to the Bottom of the the Down Correction that came after Covid (Which saw the same Rediculous increases as Cards) So I have been Bottom feeding for Months! I watched one guy who showed the difference in his top 100 CGC Comics in 2020/21 they were worth $500K then, today about $300K! But you only lose money if you sell!
So I saw this book and after I started negotiating with a Seller and he made me a Sweet Deal! CGC Graded the Book as 7.5 with the following Grader notes: 1. Couple of small ticks at the top staple, 1/4" bend bottom right front cover, I can't see the teeny bend at all except at an angle and since it Doesn't Break Color it will press right out after crackout and Barely touched corner Bottom Spine (I have 9.2's and 9.4's that have more touched corners and I have a 9.6 that has worse staple ticks than this one.
So Anyway here it is Prior to Cracking: (I wont crack it till I'm ready to send)
Thanks
YeeHaw!

I look forward to seeing a Comic sub-forum here!
I don’t understand why you would want to crack and resubmit to PSA. They have zero presence in the comic book hobby and at least short term it seems like the book’s value would be lessened.
I agree, Dave. Plus, it's confusing after the rant on the Rocky II thread about PSA being a waste of time and money. That said, I would also enjoy a comic thread on this forum.
And your probably right, but I want to do it as an experiment for several reasons and to see what PSA Grading will be about. As far as the cost of the Book I made such a good deal on it even if it downgrades a Whole Grade, I'm still good! And that could all change before PSA does any Grading, I may have another Book by then! CGC is just getting too expensive and unless its a Book that will sell for north of $100 its just not worth it. Secondly, and this is a Minor wish, but depending on how they do the Cert numbers, Imagine having it bump a Grade and then Advertising it as The First ASM 59 EVER Graded by PSA. You know Collectors pay a Premium for some Silly reasons. (Although I won't be selling soon, but will someday). Can you Imagine having 20-30 PSA Graded Comics with Cert #'s under 100?
The cost to Grade with PSA may be too expensive, and if so, I'll just go back to Buying already Graded that the Grading has been paid for by somebody else
And as far as my rant on Cards, I stand by it, its just way way too costly to Grade most Commons. Because of what PSA did to Card subbing the last 3 years I divested most of my Non Sports and Sports Cards and that fueled my pivot back to comics, and its so much more fun!

I have hundreds of Bronze Age non-key comics that are of 9.6 - 9.8 quality. I have never been able to bring myself to submit them to CGC because
I feel the same way about my unopened packs. Graded cards are much less prone to slabbing/transport damage than graded comics or packs, so most of my comics will likely remain ungraded.
Paul,
Man those are some Beauties!
So just fell down a Rabbit Hole. searching out some Comic Vids on YouTube. One was Was an hour and 1/2 Interview with the New PSA Comic Book Division head. Man I wouldn't screw with that guy, his Guns are as big as my Torso! He did state that Subs would be starting in January!
But the Rabbit Hole was about the CGC Scam that at least 350 Higher End Slabs were compromised by Swapping out Books and then sending them to CGC to be Re-Holdered. In Jan it was 350 Books valued well North of a Million, if not Multiple Millions. Don't know the final count, cant watch anymore TV!
Then there is a How To Video that shows you exactly how to do it! Seriously, And it is easy, I am sure with a little practice I could do it!

PSA needs to re-think the red flip. Perception amongst slabbed comic collectors is red = danger, and blue = good. Wrong or right perceptions are difficult to change. Why risk losing business over a simple color?
