A curious discrepancy with an NGC holder!

A friend of mine has a coin in a NGC fatty holder,
When doing a cert verification, NGC claims the date of certification to be 2005, which is completely wrong with regard to this type of holder.
I told him this has to be a typo, so he contacted NGC and whoever he contacted claims this information to be correct.
I’m very curious to see what you guys think especially you guys that study the older holders…
2005 ???

My thought is this was graded in 1995 and that 2005 would be the 10 year anniversary….
Anyone agree?

Once upon a time, certification dates were not disclosed by TPGs. Could it be that the database that is giving you 2005 was first populated in 2005 and nothing in it is said to have been certified earlier?

That’s a very interesting point! That may be very well what’s going on here…

Whomever your friend contacted at NGC was wrong.

I think this is a case where why do you have to contact ngc at all re the old ngc no line fatty soap box. It is what is, its an older holder from 1995ish and that is that, no need to confirm. I would rather see you contact CAC and chat with JA re it's verifiability versus calling someone at ngc who has been there for 3 months and knows nothing. Be happy its in an older holder
I agree 👍
