Da 'backs' are back!

Wow, the Arizona Diamondbacks are really playing great baseball now. They improved their team with personnel moves in the last two months, they never quit on a game, they have a happy/fired-up clubhouse, and they've gone from a sub-500 record to a 90-percent chance of making the playoffs. Their team chemistry is over-the-top, they score lots of runs, and they don't have any glaring weakness. And they're just simply fun-to-watch!

Good time to be mooching stadium improvements.

Although Corbin Carroll is considered to be enduring a "sophomore slump", he leads the D-backs in runs scored. Heck, he nearly leads the entire NL in runs scored. He bats lead-off against RHP, but bats 6th or 7th against lefties. He's a very exciting player (and very humble when interviewed).

I think Corbin Carroll read my post above. He just delivered a dramatic two-strike, two-out, 2-run homer to tie the score at 4 runs apiece in the 9th inning. Unfortunately, the D-Backs gave the game away in the bottom of the 9th by committing a costly two-out error. Oh well, try again tomorrow.

Despite his "sophomore slump", there's a very good chance that Corbin Carroll will lead the NL in runs scored this season. He's currently in 2nd place, trailing Ohtani by 4 runs. I believe Corbin will lead the 'backs' to another deep post-season run.

Nice to see the gradual improvement. Most noticeable are the home runs the last 2 months and the OPS going up every month.

I knew CC was slumping through this season but leading the league in runs is pretty good

Da 'backs', who hold the NL’s top wild-card spot, reached a season-high 19 games over .500 by winning for the 34th time in 47 games. Corbin Carroll had a single in four at-bats, reaching safely for the 34th straight start.

Gotta love Corbin -- he's really playing well now -- and was very humble in the post-game interview. A game-winning Grand Slam!!

Corbin Carroll has scored 104 runs so far this year -- and is projected to score 121 runs by the end of the season. Wow, that's a huge number. 121 runs scored is a super-star stat!

Crickets. Your team has a few guys who project to score 121 runs, right? No big deal.

Ronald Acuña scored 149 runs last year and I think I was the only one who mentioned it. People seem to be obsessed with home runs and stolen bases. Bobby Witt plays for my team, the Royals and he’s scored 117
    runs so far.

  • Runs scored is how they determine the winner of any baseball game -- from Little League to the Majors. Home runs and stolen bases play a large role in scoring runs (of course). But the scoreboard tallies runs scored. Any team would love to have Corbin Carroll -- for his performance and for his positive attitude.

I agree Corbin’s positive attitude has been huge in helping him get out of a bad slump.
I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Mike Moustakas. He struggled the first few years when he was with KC, getting sent to the minors several times. Like Corbin, he had a great mental attitude and would always say he just wants to help the team win. He ended up being a big part of the Royals going to the World Series two years in a row and winning the second time.
