Will this Lincoln Collection contain the two semi-keys?

braddickbraddick Posts: 24,131 ✭✭✭✭✭

I took a bit of an awkward chance on this partial set of Lincolns.
The seller doesn't generally deal in coins and his discription of the set is somewhat lacking.
It DOES state this set comes with the coins shown- yet on the other hand, the photos are poor.

Specifically I am hoping the 1909-S and the 1914-D are present. It is obvious the 09-S VDB and the 22 Plain along
with the 1931-S are missing.

It is due to arrive tomorrow morning and either way- with these two coins or not- I will keep the set and I'll show closer and better photos of the highlights and the lowlights (if any).

Tough to tell. The pics even when magnified don't show it clearly. Even if so, they are very low grade.

Please let us all know about the coin that purports to be a genuine '14-D.

A badly worn 1918 D cent is altered to a 1914 D by simply shaving the shadow of the "8" so it appears to be a four. Examine the area around the "4" for evidence of tampering, also examine the shoulder for evidence of VDB removal.

Good luck. About half of the value of what you spent ($150) depends on this album having a genuine '14-D, albeit low grade, present.

I don't see a date on the penny occupying the 1914-D slot in the album. If a genuine '14-D is indeed there, I'm not seeing more than an $80 coin because of it's receiving heavy circulation wear to condition about good (AG) or worse.

My guess is that no, it won't have two semi-keys.
