0 views and 1 bid?

jesbrokenjesbroken Posts: 9,999 ✭✭✭✭✭

How does this happen. I have coins listed on GC and all of the coins with bids have views except one, which has 0 views and 1 bid.
I would think that would be a statistic by software and not by chance of a keystroke error. Maybe it happens all the time, but first time I noticed it. Not important, but interesting. Opinions?

Did you put a minimum on it? Is the bid yours, by chance? I’m just guessing.

No minimum by me, Ian sets all the minimum or starting bids and to my knowledge no minimums, just starting bids and certainly no bids by me, did not know I could bid, which I would not do and feel should be illegal. JMO

@ianrussell Can you shed some light on what's going on with the OP's coin? :)

The counters must be out of sync, just like how videos on YouTube can have 0 views and hundreds of comments.

Thanks all for your replies. I guess Mike is right, never did any of that so had no idea. Just curious anyway.

You can't bids on your own coins at GC unless you have a 2nd account under a different ID. I currently have several coins listed and when I click on one of my items you can't enter a bid on your own stuff.

Anyway of knowing whether any bidders were the same(not their actual ID)?

Not sure what you're asking but
if you look at the bidding history it will show you the bidders that bid on the coin, IE: bidder#1, bidder #2 ect and that can show you how many bidders are actually bidding
    Hope this helps

Yes - as others have mentioned - it's possible to bid on coins from their watchlist page in bulk - and it does not trigger a page view - it's commonly used by viewers here as well (as well as when we entered large quantities of bids from non-Internet savvy bidders).

We're also working on having images enlarge on the watchlist page, so I anticipate this happening more often. We might have to count when someone views the enlarged image, that it counts as a page view.
