Does Europe have Coin Star machines (or their equivalent)?
If so, I wonder what coinage shows up in the reject bin of those European machines. I expect that raw, heavily circulated European coinage (mostly of non precious metals) that was minted in the 16th century forward exists in large numbers in various hiding places, being passed down from generation to generation for 300-500 years. Some of that coinage likely surfaces and gets deposited in those machines.
Has anyone on the forums who check North American Coin Star Machines ever did the same while travelling in Europe? If so, did you have any luck?
My oldest is 1919. Quite the young'n compared to yours.

Not pretty but I found it in the trash can next to the Coinstar in my credit union about 3-4 years ago. It is from a Greek colony in the Iberian Peninsula from the 2nd century BC. My next oldest was about 5-6 years ago an 1865 IHC.

Wildman. One of my favorite coin motifs. Very unusual coin star find.
Very rare that so many centuries go by before a family finally cashes in their change barrel.

Crazy! I guess they didn’t even look at what they had before dumping their coins.
I wonder how many times they ran that through the machine before giving up.

I wonder if that is the oldest coin ever found in a Coinstar machine?
