Late 80's early 90's Nascar Trading Card Collection Advice
Hey Everyone, Tim here AKA Havoc. Vast Nascar Card collection Primarily Singles, Multiples of many, Mostly Maxx Race Cards. 1988 thru 1996. Along with All of the other early Nascar Card issuers inaugural card offerings Traks, ProSet, Wheels, Upper Deck, Press Pass etc. Curious how vibrant the Market is for the Super Stars of the time Dale Earnhardt Sr and Jeff Gordon, which is the majority 80% of my collection. The remaining Cards are All the Nascar Champions, HOF inductees and winningest drivers of the time Aliison, Waltrip, Pearson, Baker Martin, Yarborough. So a plethora of Early production Nascar cards, mostly Icons. Do I inspect for condition First, for grading purposes ? Do i focus on Dale and Jeff, Grade as many Cards as I can from those years ? I guess im at a loss as to Where to start and would appreciate some expert advice. I know My cards Well, understand condition, but Have never had a card graded and looking for pointers on where to start, Thanx for any help

Welcome to the boards!
I don't know about racing cards, so I looked on ebay under sold items and see the 1988 Earnhardt card goes for as much as $1,200.00.
Of course it was graded a 10.
The signed cards are going to have value, but I am going to assume that, like sports cards, only a very few in high grade are going to be worth big money.
Pick out your best cards in mint condition, do an ebay search, go to "advanced search", select "sold items" look for "highest priced".
This should give you the best idea of what the potential of your card is.
Post a few photos here (scanner pictures are better than phone) and you will get advice on condition. Lots of smart, helpful collectors here.
Hope you find some big $ cards!
Do you have any autographed cards?

I don’t know anything about nascar cards but I’m looking forward to others comments and pictures. Thanks.
What was the Maxx year with the lime greenish wrapper? As I recall the cards were black bordered.
1990 Maxx
Sent out my first 25 cards to be graded, some of my Favorites. Earnhardt 1988 Rookie #99, 1989 Maxx #3 Autographed, Jeff Gordon 1987 Woo RC,
Before sending out any more, I recommend you post some pictures here and we can give you an idea on grades. First time submitters almost always overgrade.

A random grading question ? Looking over pop reports, noticing most people just get the most popular Drivers done or most expensive cards in set. Having some knowledge of the sport, and knowledge of, in my opinion of the Cards that I consider better, Winston Cup Champion Cards, Milestones, Last cards of some and of course RC cards. Im sticking primarily with Dale Earnhardt Sr and Jeff Gordon, but have HOF drivers and guys like Bill Elliott that I know have a massive following. So my query, Is there a Strategy you would suggest or Start with Condition, Icons, Value etc. I will attempt to share some pics of Cards I believe to be in Mint to Nr Mint condition. Appreciate the responses. And Yes, All my Cards are FS, 45 years collecting figure I better start now in hopes it doesnt take 45 years to get rid of them. Thanx again. My first graded cards will be back this week, see what kinda eye I have, Peace

4/7 of my First Graded PDA/DNA Cards came in, they denied grading on 3 Autographs, suspect I can resubmit those, I know they're as good as the others
Nice!!
