Question about a purchase via Collectors Corner

Downtown1974Downtown1974 Posts: 6,984 ✭✭✭✭✭

In the past, I have made purchases from Heritage, Coast to Coast Coins and Northern Nevada Coins through the Collector’s Corner link at the top of the page. Usually when I add a coin to my cart, I checkout and pay right then and there. This last weekend I purchased a coin from Liberty Coin Inc. through the Collectors Corner link. It didn’t allow me to pay and they stated someone would be in contact with me. The order is in “pending” status. Seems odd that they haven’t at least sent an invoice to my email.
Anybody else have a similar experience? Never had this happen in the past.

I bought a coin from Liberty earlier this year via Collector's Corner. After a week I had to initiate contact to get things going and the process was a bit slow and drawn out. As I recall they had just returned from a show, which I do understand but still... In the end I have the coin and am happy with my purchase, but I was surprised at the lack of response or communication from my initial CC contact.

It is also very possible that they are at the ANA and perhaps don't bother with outside show contacts when at shows. My suggestion would be to call and see if they have a record of your buy.

Yeah, it seems that some (perhaps more than some) of the dealers on Collector's Corner are smaller operations and it helps if you can directly communicate. I had an instance a few months ago, great dealer and great coin that was reasonably priced, but I needed to contact him directly to make things happen.

@coinbuf Thank you very much for sharing your experience. I was wondering if I had carelessly missed something when placing the order.

Curious why you went through Collector’s Corner instead of going through the seller?

I like the format on the Collectors Corner site. I’ve had previous success using it too.

I end up going through the seller for the actual purchases, but Collector's Corner has a nice search function that keeps your wantlist and sends you an email when a coin becomes available from a wide array of sellers. Some of the FS Jeffersons are difficult to find so the wantlist is nice.

I bought a coin from Liberty that I saw on Collector corner. I called them directly, made payment and had a very smooth transaction.
