FA: GC auctioning off a terrific error coin collection - next wave closes 9/22, 9/29
An old, good friend and mentor is in the process of consigning a nearly 50 year collection of error coins to Great Collections. They agreed to list everything as the "Rippere Collection of Mint Clipped / Incomplete Planchets". The first wave of certified errors are live now, you can follow this link to see everything, and a few highlights are individually linked below:
1873 Indian Head Cent Closed 3 Clipped Planchet PCGS Proof 62RD
1955 Lincoln Cent Doubled Die Obverse On Ragged End Clipped Planchet PCGS AU53
1925 Lincoln Cent Double Struck Rotated With Minor Clip NGC VG10-BN
1909-S/Horizontal S Lincoln Cent Curved Clip NGC MS63-RD
1847 Seated Liberty Dollar Curved Clip NGC AU58 Toned (I traded him this coin, there is a thread about it on the US Coin Forum)
1924 Saint Gaudens Double Eagle Minor Curved Clip 7:00 NGC MS 64
Most of this first wave is high grade coins and rare type. GC is sending about 50 more coins for grading to go up for bid later in the summer, I know there are many early clipped Silver Commemoratives including Roanoke, Vancouver, Lynchburg, and an Alabama 2x2, and also lots of early gold, mainly Quarter and Half Eagles.
I have no financial stake in these auctions, I am just trying to help spread awareness of the sale. I was able to pick up a few wonderful pieces for my own clipped collection ahead of the consignment, this is my way of showing my gratitude for that opportunity.

The 55 doubled die. A doubled die, double error coin with the clip. That is interesting. Thanks for the info.
Bumping this again, this round of auctions close on Sunday.
There are a bunch more great coins that will follow this, my friend just sent another large group of certified errors to GC this week. Again, if you have been at all impressed or intrigued by the clipped planchets I've posted over the years, this collection absolutely dwarfs mine in both breadth and quality.

One last bump, as these are all ending in about two hours.

Hello again,
The next wave of auctions from my friend's error collection have posted to Great Collections, again most of these are clips on either very high grade moderns or older type coins. As I have hinted in the past, the breadth of his collection was staggering, this time around he's for everything from 18th century silver to 20th century gold.
He is pushing to have his name added to the descriptions again to make his coins easy to find, right now there are a few clips that are not noted on holders that will evade a straight search. Over the next couple of days I will post links to highlights in the offering. Reiterating that some of these certified coins had been off the market since the 1990s, and some of the raw coins being graded now have been off the market since the 1970s.

Another group of auctions closing on Sunday, this group covers everything from high grade wheat cents to very early type coins, including a 1797 half dime and 1807 dime, all with clipped planchets. There are also a few better date Morgans in this patch including a 1903-S.
I won't link everything here, though I will tell you that there are three additional coins without the clip noted on the holder that you will need to search out individually - an 1857 half cent, a 1934 Boone half, and an 1869-S $2.50 quarter eagle.
Last note, I used to own some of the coins in this wave, I would regularly send him type clips in exchange for upgrades to my Lincolns. Both of the Standing Liberty quarters and the 1838 bust quarter came from my collection.
