The Chicago White Sox are on the verge of MLB immortality.
The Chicago White Sox are on the verge of MLB immortality, unfortunately it is in a rather dubious way. The ChiSox have now lost 20 consecutive games!! Chicago’s franchise-record losing streak is the longest in the big leagues since the 1988 Baltimore Orioles dropped 21 games in a row - the AL mark - to begin the season. The NL record since 1900 is held by the 1961 Philadelphia Phillies, who lost 23 straight. The Major League low belongs to the 1889 Louisville Colonels, an American Association team that endured a 26-game slide during a 27-111 season.
I haven't seen Chicago play during the streak but I have seen other steaks, winning and losing. Most of the time they aren't because a team is just ridiculously terrible, often there's at least a little luck involved and the "breaks" just don't go a team's way. Also, when streaks reach a certain point the team psychology plays a part in it. Are there any Chicago White Sox fans here who can attest to how bad this team really is??
Next up is a three game series which has the Sox traveling to play Oakland. That means that the Modern Era record could happen on Friday against the cross town rival Chicago Cubs. WOW!!

I can attest that their bullpen is terrible. Royals recently played them and the first two games the Sox starters went 6.1 innings, 1 run given up, and 7 innings, 1 run given up.
KC rallied in the 8th inning both games to take the lead and held on to win. The third game KC won 10-3 I believe and rocked the starter for Chi.
So Oakland won last night 5-1 over the White Sox which means the streak is at 21, so they have now tied the AL record. Next up is the AL record at 22 games, then the tie of the modern era record Wednesday at 23. If they make it that far I wonder if their home field will sellout for Friday's game??
It wont happen, but MLB really should force the White Sox to be sold. Theres a bunch of college teams you could put in MLB and they wouldnt lose 21 in a row, they likely wouldnt have a winning record but they wouldnt lose for over 3 weeks straight either

the White sox purposely lost yesterday to Oakland, why ? IDK but originally Jonathan Cannon was scheduled to start for Chicago last night in Oakland, I believe he is probably the 2 nd best starting pitcher now for the CHisox, for some odd and strange reason the sox decided to move his start 1 day back to tonight,
The white sox wanted to be in the news headlines good or bad,
And the White Sox break the streak and come away with a 5-1 victory over Oakland!!
