Type 1 Photograph...Exceptional Price?

I am not educated on nor collect Type 1 photographs...but found this one very interesting since Topps used it in 1964 capturing Game #1 of the previous years' World Series. It sold tonight (8/3) in a Goldin Auction for about $9150. Is that an exceptional price for a Type 1 photograph? This price exceeds the cost of the Topps card using the photograph. Here is the Type 1 photograph along with my copy of the 1964 Topps card capturing that World Series game...

I purchased this at the National. Topps photo used for Lynn Swann’s rookie card.

That is an exceptional price however one has to consider that the subject is Koufax and that the same photo was used on a Topps set card the next year (which will always place a premium on it).

Type 1 photos are interesting because no one really knows how many copies actually exist....
