Sounds like every other year. It is a shame as he could have been a big star.
Shocking
The Angels have been victims of the long term contract in this case big time. They have not done well since they made it and could not even give Ohtani the money to keep him. It just shows how those big contracts can affect a team when injury comes into play.
The Angels are the most inept franchise in baseball history.
What other franchise could have two generational talents for 7 years, and not only not make the playoffs, but not even attain a winning record?
Then, when faced with the prospect of Ohtani walking, instead of trading him for an unprecedented haul of talent, they let him walk for nothing.
The team needs to be sold and moved. They will never be relevant in Southern California (despite their pathetic attempt to shoehorn 'Los Angeles' into their name) and should be moved to a market that will embrace them.

The Omaha Angels. I agree.
Somewhere in the South. But the organist would have to
compete with a some banjos.
Looking strictly at media market size, Orlando is the largest without an MLB team; however, with Tampa and Miami (#'s 13 and 18) already with teams, and neither with regular, substantial fans, it makes no sense to stick a third team here.
Sacramento market is #20, but the A's will be playing in that market for at least 3 years will be a good litmus test to see how many fans they draw.
Portland at #21 makes a ton of sense. It would allow the team to remain in the West and allow the divisions to remain intact. It would open the door to a natural geographic rivalry with the Mariners less than 200 miles away. There are already plans in Portland to build a stadium to attract an MLB team and the support for the Trailblazers and the MLS gets over 20,000 fans a game.
It's all nonsense to think about, though- Arte Moreno is a clown who will never sell the team, despite being the worst owner in pro sports.

He probably could have played through it, but whats the point when theyre already out of the playoffs.
Angels arent going to get moved. Their market is just fine but they should change that stupid name, they arent in LA. Theyre just a dysfunctional franchise that cant put together full rosters and a move wont switch that.
If they were going to move theres only two places that really make sense, Omaha or Nashville. Nashville they want to save for an expansion team. Sacramento makes no sense. The As are playing there the next several years and theres a good chance they get stuck there. Vegas doesnt want them and never did, the state legislature forced them on the city. The As were supposed to come up with half the money and theyre so cheap they wont use any of their own money and they havent been able to find a single investor so far to pay it for them.
Charlotte or Jacksonville would make sense too but they would have to fight the Braves over it, but they are for sale and the new ownership group might not be as powerful. Angels arent going anywhere though, as soon as they get the As and Tampa situations figured out they want to add 2 teams and dont want to burn an expansion market by moving a team from a good market into one of them
