Off topic POSITIVE thread: Who are your favorite posters here at Sports Talk? No bashing please.

I will start with 2 of my favorites here, and I have many, but I'll go with these 2. First, I will shout out to @groceryrackpack, this guy is so passionate about sports it's contagious, his posts are very cool, me and him chat offline every so often, he tells me about life in the Amish frozen tundra up north and I tell him stories from the swamp down south. And my 2nd is @stevek, always been a good dude here to me, he's a diehard Philly guy and I'm a diehard Cowboy fan, in baseball he's Phillies and I'm Braves but if there's any interaction between us it's always with a respectful attitude.

Thank you Robert, and the feeling is mutual.

Favorite of all time, for me and many others is lawnmowerman. Believe it or not, he is also a Cowboys fan and maybe the top Emmitt Smith fan in the country. Matt's wife would even occasionally post. Matt is still a member, but for whatever reason hasn't been active in a long time. How I became forum friends with these dam Cowboys fans I'll never know. 😉

Favorite still active is Perkdog. Whenever I see Paul's posts, I always read them, and often enjoy it. I realize I'm not up there as one of his favorites, and that's okay, because I know he's got his base of Boston fan buddies he hangs around with here. 😊

Robert of course is right up there. Galaxy is up there for very entertaining posts, never dull, as I hate being bored. Perhaps around 10 or 15 others who I like and enjoy their posts.

@stevek Your right your not one of my favorites because I'm still smarting from my Pats losing to YOUR Eagles!! ,😉

Being honest about the "Favorite" guy here I can't really put a name out there and be 100% on it

I have gotten to know a lot of you, there have been so many good guys that have come and gone it's crazy to think about how many.

I would absolutely sit down with any of you guys and have a beer or chocolate milk with, that is for damn sure.

Each one of you guys has unique character traits that I've come to know and like over the years it's a fun place and I enjoy all of you guys

I'll do 4 names for a Mt. Rusmore.

First is Otis, the original Sportsmoderator. Witty, knowledgeable and eloquent. New Years Eve about 14 years ago, he banned himself from the forum.

Second is Dimeman. No poster here ever had more passion.

Third I'll go with Commemman. Always topical and good for a chuckle.

Fourth is Dragon. Missed much of the last couple years, but he sure kept the forum active during his tenure.

Guess the question was active members.

    Perk
    Galaxy
    Stevek

... and everyone else that left me a like or LOL.

It's funny when they first introduced this new forum format, I can't recall the exact year, maybe around 7 or so years ago, they also had a downvote (negative) option for a post. After I guess it was a few months, they removed that option because some folks were getting upset at the number of downvotes they were receiving.

On second thought, it was "disagree." Useful really, on a coin forum where opinions are often incorrect, though well meaning.

  • perkdogperkdog Posts: 30,845 ✭✭✭✭✭

They took away the disagree option on my gun forum that I'm on

Apparently even gun guys are easily upset and can't handle someone disagreeing with them

    Really too many to name.

Stevek is more pompous than 5 Travis Kelces’ put together but I still like him and his posts.
Craig was simply wrong that Simone should have toughened up and performed even though she could have seriously injured herself. But I like him and his posts, good baseball guy and great passion for Brady and
    the pats.
2deuces- I still hope if the Chiefs don’t win the SB this season that the Bills win it. Him and Bills fans deserve it. Like following his football betting threads also.
Perkdog and Galaxy of course. Two great guys. Hope the Bears have a winning season.
    1948swell- really great baseball posts.
Too many more to name, Landry, bluejay, Maywood and everyone else thanks for making this board a fun place to visit.
MCMLVtopps and Tommyrusty- great Red Sox thread!
Groceryrackpack- can’t leave out a Chiefs fan… you’re the best dude!
    The Countdouglas…….
The greatest Trout denier the world has ever seen.
Joe Banzai- very knowledgeable on many sports

Bit of advice- don’t start naming a bunch of names you’ll always forget some. 😫

One of the best posts of the year!!

Okay now the pcgs moderator is definitely a favorite after he posted this on the Simone Biles thread.

so, i thought long and hard about this and i ultimately decided to go with mistlin

but it's so much more than him being my fav poster

like, i think i want this guy

dude dusted off an alt account from 17 years ago and has a penchant for bringing my day down a notch with virtually every post he makes...........that is highly impressive, next-level stuff and in an inexplicable way it turns me on a little

The only real downside to mistlin being here is every single time I type his name auto correct turns it into misting. So from now on that’s what I call him…… misting.

Axtel it seems took a brief break after getting banned and then came back with at least one sleeper. Perkdog nailed it! 😆

I have forgotten the posters I've known over the 20 years I've been around. I'd say that 95% of all the posters current and past put up good posts. I'm partial to Perkdog and remember the Perkies era, his stuff is always good, steady, fair and on point. I enjoy Stevek's and Galaxy's posts. Perkdog (Paul), BTW lives fairly close to where I grew up in Massachusetts, not far from the beaches I went to earlier in my life. I'm in the Atlanta area now. Paul has always been ACES!! I enjoy gigging him a little when he's having a big snow storm and its in the 70s here.

Anyone remember the long ago threads of the now infamous "I just love cards"? He's now in Federal prision somewhere in Texas for running a Ponzi scheme with local neighbors, to whom he promised amazing returns, he seriously screwed them out of life savings level ripoffs. He had been wanted by the FBI for his antics in New Jersey. They finally got him in El Paso, TX. I somehow got friendly with him while putting together a 55 Topps set. I didn't get stung by him, but at one point the red lights began to flash. I was on the periphery of a disaster. Perk may remember those days, maybe a bit before 2010. I always thought it odd that his avatar was a pic of his wife in a negligee. I met him once in TX, his wife was indeed a lovely looking lady.

Used to get a big red box back in the day, indicating you were 86'd and if memory serves, it included "that's all folks"...somebody correct me on that.

The thing with me and tommyrusty, (used to be Pit Boss), is that he is deeply entrenched with the Red Sox. We both grew up about 50 miles or so apart in MA, we're both Red Sox fans, both for more than 60 years, he lives in NM. However, while I'm a fan, I don't condone inept play, crappy loser contracts, of which there are many, confusing managerial decisions and insane income to those who appear to mail it in. He OTOH always sees the glass more than half full and it never rains in Fenway. I am NOT a fan of Cora for the crap he pulled in Houston, now we're stuck with him for another 3 yrs. Rusty constantly remains on the "we'll be there in October" mantra, whereas my position is "it ain't gonna happen". Without dribbling on, I've decided to go a bit lighter on my disagreements...I did find it odd the recent post about "why I will never give up baseball", one of his entries was "for the wall in left field where the ball bounced off for the win". A definite head scratcher.

So, I kinda like everybody, favorites, yeah, a few, but mostly to me its just a bunch of guys trying to enjoy a little time in cyberspace enjoying the company of total strangers who enjoy a little back and forth banter.

Enjoy life, travel as much as you can, we're all on a short ride!!

    Best to everyone
    Al

And just like that another epic post

    Love ya Al!

This is great group of guys here and I enjoy the back and forth of most all of you. I started watching this forum while I was selling coins on ebay. Made a lot of money with error coins and just happened to see this forum when the Wisc extra leafs. were a hot item. My coins are all gone now so dont really need the forum now but it keeps me going when my favorite teams are not playing. I enjoy Al the most of the bunch even though we dont agree on everything.

I spent my last 20 years of my working days as a casino pitboss in one of those casinos he is showing the chips from.

BTW, I was playing on a table not far from the entrance to the showroom. The pit boss, a lady and another person were in a conversation with a local. So, we're on a $25 table, and when I surrendered, hd had no clue what I was doing. I guess its players like that who keep the lights on. He actually asked "what did he just do?" I gave him a quick education.

This place is like the Kumite...everyone has their unique style and we all have core things in common that drives us and keeps us here.

Many good posters. My apologies for singling out only a a handful, but:

@craig44 is great. Always contributes in many arenas He has knowledge, likes to roll up his sleeves, and isn't afraid to defend his stance. Loves a good debate.

@dallasactuary super knowledgeable in several areas. I like chiding him a little, kind of like how Nuke did to Crash Davis just to see him get worked up :). He is a master at getting his point across in a way that is near impossible to beat even though I got him a couple times :)...at least that is what the old East German judge decided.

@Darin Loves sports and cards and debating. He digs in and isn't afraid to hold his stance. Passionate for sports especially KC. Isn't easy being a fan of a small market team. I root for Bobby Witt so the loyalty is rewarded and the beer tastes a little better on a summer night for Darin.

@perkdog is the King of Kings. Genuine with a good sense of humor. He knows what he likes and defends it without apology...and yet has the confidence and sophistication to understand and acknowledge when someone has a different point of view when they are defending that. He is the ultimate barometer, because If perkdog is angry with you or is saying something negative your way then that is a sure sign that person really stepped in it and was on the wrong side because it takes a lot to get him to that point.
