1856-C Quarter eagle question for the serious Gold Bugs around here

How would you rate this quarter eagle on the rarity scale in your opinion? And one more question......are they all grainy and poorly struck? I'm considering adding one to my collection but the price and appearance is tough to swallow!! BTW, I'm considering a NGC 50 example which looks more like a XF to me! But I defer to the experts who graded it.

You have to look at the surfaces to grade poorly stuck coins and then at the XF level it almost doesn’t matter and is what it is. I don’t see a pic in your post

Manorcourtman, I don't believe that all 1856-C quarter eagles are grainy and poorly struck but most display those characteristics. Few have good eye appeal.
Finding an example with CAC approval took some time. The coin in my set is pictured here.
CAC has stickered five coins: two in 55, two in 58 and one in 61.

Look it up on coin facts, or the price guide. For the date and mm that looks like a pretty good one. It has a pretty low mintage and low survival numbers. I would keep it. Edit, I was looking at @OnlyGoldIsMoney ’s coin. If you can do that we’ll grab it.
