Visited my brother in Pittsburgh over the weekend. I always enjoy seeing some of the gorgeous Thalers in his collection.

They have an incredible collection. I have to say I've never fully understood thalers. They feel almost like commemoratives. So many different designs, loads of detail most of the time, and still can be found in some incredible conditions.

Those are incredible! I have a hard time shelling out for Thalers, but I do appreciate them. I have one only, and a second that’s a 2/3 Thaler. They’re a lot of fun!

Some great coins there. Nice eye appeal!

  • I recognized one from my own collection, the brunswick-luneberg, but mine is 1630 instead. And I agree about the thalers, they are marvelously beautiful. My personal favourites are the varius maximillians of the Teutonic order, thanks to the amazing reverse, you can spend months researching everything on that reverse!
