Question for the Error Experts. Is there more to this double struck Nickel than listed?

bigjpstbigjpst Posts: 3,101 ✭✭✭✭✭

I purchased this double struck coin and looking at it, there are a couple of things I'm curious about.

I've tried to take as many pictures as possible under different lighting to show what I am asking about.
On the reverse of the original strike, there appears to be lines that look like it could have been struck through something covering most of the coin. Also, there are two areas above Monticello that seem to be either clashing, or ? I'm having trouble deciphering what they are. On the right of the image, they look squared off like a small staircase. On the left of the image, it looks more like the outline of Jefferson's bust.
Wondering if these are normal for the type of error? Or should I send this in again to have it re-examined for an additional error?
I've outlined the areas in question with red boxes, but can try to get better images if asked. Coin is currently graded AU58 1983 P Double Struck 2nd Strike Uniface
Thanks in advance.

Appears to be some clashing and random marks/hits. There would be no reason to send back as clashing is seldom called out over the major double strike error so I do not think PCGS would change anything. And even if they did I cannot see this as adding any value to the coin.

    Thank you.
I agree it does look like clashing but have never really seen this in a Jefferson Nickel. So wasn’t sure what part of the design it was. Also the diagonal lines in pictures 4,5 and 7 are difficult to capture in a photo but cover virtually the entire reverse and are uniform like cloth.

Here is an overlay from Mad Die Clashes, I think you can see the clashing on your coin from this overlay. I'm not really seeing the other lines you are seeing but perhaps those are also part of the clash.

Thanks for the overlay. I'm going to try and get a few photos with diffused lighting for the diagonal lines.

Might the lines be serious metal flow due to the double strike angle?

They look too uniform and are covering the entire original strike diagonal from lower left to upper right ///

Hard to make out in photos. But they are there.

Looks like clashing. Cute but not particularly significant. No need to change anything.
