like NYC etc to possibly increase attendance and offer easier year round visits?

absolutely I would. I have been to Cooperstown a dozen times over the years. it is not on the way to anywhere, and lodging is an issue during induction weekend. kind of a pain in the neck to get there. put it in NYC or Boston, the village of Cooperstown is cute, but I am not going there for its small town charm, I am going for the HOF.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Cooperstown is the legendary destination for the best players in the league.
To be enshrined in Manhattan, has an odd feel to it.
Not NYC but, yes, I would move it somewhere else.
Nobody goes there any longer, it's too crowded...Yogi.
I've been there twice. It was crowded both times. Wasn't the first baseball game played there or something like that?
Let it be...Paul
I was thinking in terms,as far as a different locale the more of an opportunity for a larger exposure to the Hall. A different climate, larger population base to draw visitors from might give the Hall a boost. With the winters in that area attendance is weak. Whereas a more friendly climate might induce more visitors. As mentioned above accomodations are lacking when there is a big HOF event.
How about a satellite hall for folks in the Midwest or west coast. Those folks may never even consider a trek to Cooperstown. And maybe upon a visit to a satellite locale, it just might upstart an interest to see Cooperstown.
Went back in 1989 and won't go again
Yes I'd move it but not inside NYC, outside of it would be better than dealing with ridiculous traffic and dirtbags
Place it in NYC, and within a week everything in there would be looted.
Except perhaps for the memorabilia from the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. Thieves generally aren't interested in stealing worthless items. 😉
If I had the power to move the MLB HOF I'd leave it right where it is.
Maybe closer to Pete Rose's house.
If he could, Pete would sell all the items on Ebay, and head on down to the casino.
Cooperstown has an iconic name and a bunch of youth baseball tournaments are built around there. I definitely wouldnt move it somewhere like NYC
That said moving it to Omaha would make a ton of sense. Over 100k people go there every year for the College World Series, the B!G holds its conference tournament there, and its a good sized city thats easily within driving distance of several other cities, Plus Creighton plays there and Berkshire Hathaway is located there having a bunch of conferences.
The B!G may not care about baseball that much but between the CWS and the B!G conference tournament thats one major and one significant baseball event that happens every year. A lot of those fans and teams would go check it out when they werent playing
Wisconsin 2-6 against the SEC since 2007
More than likely the Clark contingent would never allow the move. But into a bigger non seasonal area would most likely increase attendance, even if slightly.
Does "The National" card show have any representation of the Hall at that show?
Never been to the HOF. It is quite a stately building which would be impractical to move, so to relocate to a warehouse or office tower would make no sense.
It is downright hilarious to see all the ignorant folks claiming NYC would be a terrible place for the hall.
Yes, the greatest city in the country, with the most prestigious baseball team in history, would be a terrible place for the Hall to be located.
Omaha? That is a ridiculous idea. 5 million passengers a year for the airport? Cute. JFK handles 60+ million a year. In addition, being able to see a city with actual culture makes the most sense.
NYC is the obvious choice.

Omaha holds the 2nd biggest baseball event of the year besides the WS, third biggest during WBC years.
Wisconsin 2-6 against the SEC since 2007
This year's college world series saw a total attendance of about 300k - no doubt an incredible total - for 12 games for an average attendance of about 25k.
The Yankees average 40k+ a night. If the premise is to move the hall to a more accessible location and get more fans easier access, NYC is the only sensible choice.

NYC is one of the most expensive cities in the country that a lot of fans from all over the country have no desire to ever go to for a variety of reasons. The same Yankee fans arent going to go to a museum every day
Omaha is within driving distance of Kansas City, Oklahoma City, Minneapolis, Des Moines, Chicago, Milwaukee etc to name a few. Most of those you could even do a day trip and the others a day or two.
Its not going to get moved but if it were Omaha is what makes the most sense
Wisconsin 2-6 against the SEC since 2007
I thought Omaha seemed silly at first but that’s actually a pretty good argument. I think that so long as Cooperstown holds some historical significance that’s where it belongs but… MLB would benefit if the HOF would tour the exhibits around the country. It could also fit right in, in NYC or I could see it in the D.C. area. I guess I would mostly like to see the exhibits move around and keep the hall where it is.
Aside from the proximity to other cities many of which werent named the CWS and B!G championship is a big a deal for trying to get traffic to the HOF especially with how theyve been voting. Theres turnover in college and its not always the same teams in the CWS or even the same players in the B!G conference tournament. More importantly thats about 400k people a year depending on the teams that are there just for a baseball event from those two alone
Wisconsin 2-6 against the SEC since 2007
Went the year Cal was inducted. For all of the memorabilia they supposedly
have very little is displayed. The player lockers were anemic at best. The only
displays worth looking at were the World Series/ All Star bling.
I'd move it to Dallas, TX. Middle of the country, accessible to everyone, and a huge airport.
Steve
Omaha? Dallas?
Give me a break. Texas can't even keep the lights on - despite owning their own power grid. Corrupt and incompetent leadership over the past 20 years are the cause. Omaha? a city of less than half a million with no ties to MLB?
NYC is the only reasonable alternative to Cooperstown.
