Learning About Stamps Online (LASO for short), a new Internet-based philatelic group, has organized to give collectors around the world the opportunity to connect live with others and discuss stamp topics.

Their Mission Statement summarizes its goals: To provide an online forum for stamp collectors of all ages, skill levels and philatelic interests who have a passion to learn. Together members will share knowledge and resources to better appreciate, enjoy and promote the hobby.

Over 30 volunteers active in philately across the U.S. and Canada have been meeting by Zoom the past few months to discuss the needs and roadblocks facing collectors. Their collaboration has resulted in this group with the aim of helping each other through LASO’s emphasis on learning. It has been accepted as American Philatelic Society Chapter #1621.

Live Zoom meetings will take place on the third Tuesday of every month beginning at 8 PM Eastern US lasting around an hour featuring a mix of presentations and participant discussions. All are welcome afterwards for an open forum. Topics will vary and cover a broad range of collecting areas, including philatelic basics, “how to” tutorials, general and specialized presentations.

There is no cost to join LASO. Register online in advance at https://tinyurl.com/3fnr697j to receive participation information and Zoom invitations to meetings. As of mid-July over 150 collectors from 10 countries have expressed interest in LASO activities.
