CAC second chance

CrepidoderaCrepidodera Posts: 363 ✭✭✭✭✭

There have been so many threads about CAC over the years, but I don't remember one that focused on coins that
stickered after first failing to sticker. Here are two coins from my Liberty Seated Quarter collection that stickered the second time
they were submitted. Both are PCGS VF25. Please post your second chance CAC successes.

I understand why this one didn't sticker (the first time). The reverse staining coupled with the obverse weak rim (at 8:00) and the overall 'baking soda' old cleaning would confirm CAC's first impression.
Congratulations though on the second time around.

I don't think the 52-o has ever been cleaned.

Did you include any kind of note or just resubmit it?

Both of those are examples of coins that don't need either a slab or a sticker to be highly saleable. Serious Liberty Seated quarter collectors would snap up either coin quickly if offered at a reasonable price.

Why keep throwing money away on "opinions" when the coins are good enough to stand on their own?

52o right field is scuffy but that could be the photo light angle. They are both nice IMO.

Keep in mind the size of the photos. The 1852-O has never been cleaned in my opinion, and the weakness in some design elements is the result of a collar anomaly.

Both were submitted without a note.

I agree that both coins are very desirable. Are you joking about "throwing money away on opinions?"

so, it is again: buying someone's (very valuable} opinion(s).
    it's the buyers money...
what are the coins worth when for sale and purchased by reputable buyers and sellers, without CAC sticker, and without TPG grade?
    Just curious

    Without TPG - Blue book
With TPG - wholesale (Greysheet Bid)
With CAC - retail (Greysheet Ask)

Great stories and great coins. It may take several tries, but CAC will eventually get it right.

    Interesting saga on this one:

    MS65+ RD

First submitted in a PCGS 65RD slab & declined.
Again submitted in a PCGS 65RD slab & approved.
Upgraded to PCGS 65+RD & approved again.

    CAC ignores the +

@jmlanzaf: correct. But it was in a new holder with a new ID# so they had to at least review it before “beaning” it again.

I have a coin that’s very important to my Morgan collection that did not pass the first time. I’ve looked at this coin many times very closely and it’s arguably as good as any in my set. I will resubmit a second time.
