Vise job, squeezed between a couple of wheat cents to create a fake error
That wouldn't explain the doubling of the mint mark, Monticello, and some of the lettering.
I'd say that it is probably distortion caused by the squish.

When the vice job is done the first time some of the nickel's details can get transferred to the cent or whatever else is used. When squeezed again, that other coin can then act as a die and transfer some of the details back.
The first squeeze in the vice creates a "false die" or "transfer die" in a flat piece of metal (wheat cent) which is over the reverse.
Then that false die is rotated and the second squeeze is done.

A common fake, there's many out there
The nickel is silver however.

Sure it would. Tighten, loosen, tighten, loosen. Repeat a few times with some shifting in the middle.
This IS a vise job. Details beyond that are irrelevant.
