Dick August Has Passed Away

Learned that Dick passed away this weekend, he may be most well known to Colonial collectors, but his Latin American collection was fantastic. He was a fixture at just about every New England show and some of the national shows.

I had the pleasure of having known Mr. August personally for the last several years, had many conversations with him both over the phone and in person. He always took time to sit down and chat for a while, especially with me when I set up at a local show. He had a brilliant mind and a one-of-a-kind soul.

I knew Dick from the CT shows though not very well. He was always friendly and seemed happy to tour the bourse and talk to dealers and patrons alike.

My condolences to his family and friends.
