Finally eBay removed a listing!

This seller was listing a bicentennial quarter for like $1,000 claiming it was double dated. I reported the listing just to make things tough on him. Surprisingly, eBay removed the listing!

It sounds like they removed a listing, not a fraudster. Those are two very different (edited) things.

Thanks and corrected. In my defense, I might have been thinking about things and thugs at the same time.😀

Really, I was just so excited that I was able to make one of these listings go away, I neglected perfect prose. eBay is fraught with so many similar listings it’s ridiculous. Anyway, I got one!

Spell check could’ve helped me here. :D

Why the sarcasm? Don’t you get tired of seeing eBay vendors trying to trick others into buying something worthless? I’ve seen discussion here before on the same issue. I was just happy I could help police the community, if not just by one time.

for what we see on typical ebay scams, the listing title was nothing

    it's double dated

if the description was as plain as that title and this one ==> , i wouldn't have bothered - https://www.ebay.com/itm/375537192394 - <== i'm not sure this one <== rises to a violation since it has two dates

look at the picture below. this is 4000+ more than the last time I checked. are they scams or just listed out of ignorance? do we police phrasing and terminology, not really a ddo/ddr, not a overdate?

(there are lot of canada coins that are listed as double dated with a year range minted on them)

2 there are legit ddo/ddr, but glancing over the list shows many are not

Interesting. If I were eBay, I might have left that one. The coin is double dated. What's the violation?

What is the violation? It is a double dated coin. If they listed it for 99 cents, would you have reported that? What if they just called it "rare"?

Actually, you are correct. I just never thought of it that way. B)

I'm not defending people's ridiculous pricing, but where is the line? If I'm 20% higher, 50% higher?

The lack of humanity is artificial intelligence and automation. Excuse me ? I'm glad you got one knocked out. I was commenting on the lack of human intervention.
"The determination was made using automation and artificial intelligence ". Hence : "oh the lack of humanity vs " oh the humanity " cliche.

    as an addendum

Now, do I find thousands of listings of overpriced common coins ? Without a doubt. This is how i’ve discovered “ fair market value” over 22 years on ebay ( for most of our common coins) and why, to this day I have tried to follow Russ Stringham’s (RIP) advice in auctions starting at $.99 for ebay users.
If I use BIN prices, most coins sit for long periods and just clutter that site ( if not priced fairly) People who overprice their wares may do so at their own success or failure. Each to their own. I am assured of one thing: somebody is going to come into a coin shop trying to sell a rare double dated bicentennial half dollar clad coin for a thousand bucks because they’re that much online.

Super happy you explained. I thought I was being man-splained as has happened a couple of times here. I was really kinda disappointed, but you made things totally cool. I’m uneducated in this AI aspect of the digital marketplace. Thanks for pointing that out. Blogs and written correspondence often leave out the important elements of conversation like inflection and tone.

I soooooooo, hate ripoff artists and eBay is loaded with them. Slimy people who prey on uninformed or ignorant folks. I’ve reported a few in my day, eBay in their infinite wisdom always seem to (not have a problem) with obvious problems. It’s like they don’t care.
