Paper currency just as bad.
Pretty much anything humans consistently come in contact with. We are festering pustules. I saw on a talk show awhile ago a woman had her keyboard tested. She went on and on about her strict hygienic process letting no one else touch her keyboard, constantly cleaning with Lysol wipes, cleaning her hands until they were nearly raw, on and on making it clear that when the keyboard came back with 💩 on it she and her alone was the guilty party. The look on her face at that moment was priceless.
Moral of this story is those long finger nails some women love so much are essentially (💩) scoops.
Summer colds suck.
70* in my office... 120* everywhere else, plus no rainfall or thunder storms all week long.
Germofobes are Goofy. I'm immuned to their systems is all I have to say.
Isn't that why coinage was originally made of silver and copper, to kill the bacteria & germs.
Did the ancient Greeks and Romans even know what a germ was?

In Nebraska we say " go warsh yer hands" .
I'd guess paper is worse. Ever seen the interaction between a cashier and customer who pulls wet sweaty dollar bills from their shoe to buy a pack of smokes?
A hot area of research in my field over the past decade has been the Microbiome... I see MDs bringing their cellphones everywhere, si I've often wondered what the microbiome of a phone is...

Like emerald said in his almost Haiku-like style, letting your immune system handle germs is better than trying to avoid them like a germaphobe. Constant low level exposure to germs as they evolve allows your immune system to recognize pathogens. Isolating yourself from germs prevents your immune system from being able to recognize pathogens as they evolve and you can end up getting really sick.

Use to work at off track betting in my confused early years and I had women usually large breasted women pull their bet money out from between their boobs, the money was wet. I use to say that was the only job I had where I had to wash my hands before I went to the bathroom. I guess you live long enough you get plenty of stories.
This isn't necessarily true, as cents are about tied with nickels in my experience as the dirtiest coins based on how black my fingers get after going through a full box. They are followed by quarters, dollars, halves, and cleanest of all, dimes.

I have to say that I never heard of "Boob Money", but I guess it's a thing...
Or maybe that's a mid-west thing?

Throw a coin enough times, and suppose one day it lands on its edge.
Dimes may be cleanest of all as they have the smallest amount of area to be contaminated. Being the smallest of the coins you mentioned.

Yep, I’ll keep the doctor away. Just don’t call me in the morning 😉

No drama here.
My cold is gone as the heatwave continues on 24/7.
I never thought about the role coins might play in the development of our immune systems, that's interesting. I think I might start licking my coins, or carrying around a few in my mouth like a wad of chaw.
Their great as ice cubes also.
Coins were made from silver and copper because they were two metals that the ancients actually knew how to make, which also had the properties you need for coinage: hard-wearing, corrosion-resistant and not too common.
The antimicrobial properties of copper and silver are a happy coincidence, discovered much later once microbes were discovered. Prior to the discovery of microbes as disease-causing agents, the conventional wisdom held that disease was caused by miasma, or bad smells. Copper and silver aren't known for their odour-removing powers, so would have had no traditional involvement in disease prevention.

Apparently I have been awarded one DPOTD.
Just touching the coins is more than enough. Everybody was washing doorknobs, but not everybody thinks of their change and who recently touched it.

Ewe! I’m so glad I learned something new today! This, I could have done without. 🤮

Did a craigslist coin deal a few years ago in which the woman pulled the el cazador eight reales from her bra. Had to wipe my hands thoroughly on my jeans before touching my steering wheel. Should've put "Ex Woman's Bra" on the ebay listing, probably would have made more.
