Evidence Note

This one seems to have sprouted legs and walked from the evidence locker. I don't think that it was supposed to find it's way to private hands. Can't recall seeing many of these. Doesn't look counterfeit but maybe part of an illegal transaction? Seized assets are sometimes sold, but evidence?

Collector and dealer in obsolete currency. Always buying all obsolete bank notes and scrip.

There could be an interesting story behind the bill. See how it figured in the crime.

Generally, in certain states, when a case is closed and the statute of limitations has run out, evidence is disposed of. Currency is often deposited into a governmental treasury account. That evidence number is the key to trace it thru NYPD. Might be fun! Thanks for sharing.
