Awesome Uniforms

BuckHunter68BuckHunter68 Posts: 406 ✭✭✭

I know an awful lot of people DESPISE these uniforms--but my favorite uniform of all time is still the White Sox of the late 70's. Might be because I followed the team and watched them channel 44 and had to put tin foil on the antenna to see them clearly--I was a kid loving the South Side Hit Men. I stumbled across this concept jersey for the road that was awesome. They would, eventually, keep the collar navy on the road gamers for most of the time but the home inverse look is a classic.

I also liked the Pirates mix-n-match they had from '77-'81.

What are your favorite--or most interesting uniforms?

As a side note, I bought tickets to see the Sox wearing these uniforms a few years ago. I spent GOBS of money for seats by the on-deck circle. They were playing the Tigers. The game was delayed. We couldn't figure why the Sox weren't even on the field. Slowly, they trickled out wearing their standard current-day whites. Turns out Chris Sale actually cut the throwback jerseys into pieces because he was pitching and said they were "uncomfortable". As Sox players of the era will tell you--a more comfortable uniform, they never wore. It was like "playing in pajamas" and they were "much cooler (temperature-wise) than the (usual) outfits."--Oscar Gamble. Sale was and is a weird guy.
Anyway...it poured rain anyway and the whole night was an 800.00 disaster. My kids were good sports which made it much better. We hit a Wend'ys and got chili and frosty's so everyone was happy.

No disrespect but those are one of the ugliest jerseys ever in a lot of peoples opinions but you 1000% have a right to love them for sure

It's confusing to me how anyone could like them though, outside of bringing them back to their childhood or at a great time period growing up.

So the Pale Hose were way ahead of their time. The City Connect get-ups MLB teams manufacture nowadays pale in comparison.

    Enjoy the go.

Chargers powder blues are probably the best uniforms in professional sports.

The Padres camo ones on military appreciation days are pretty cool too

I love the Patriots reds. One of my favorites of all time as well. We agree on that! I always thought the White Sox jerseys looked "old fashioned"....even the writing on them. I was 9 and anything that stood out caught my eye. Funny, my absolute LEAST favorite uniforms the White Sox have ever worn were these. I remember the Uniform Ballots, complete with images of the 6 finalists for the new uniform. Here is a picture of most of them. I actually likes the "prison uni's" with the black stripes on the sleeves! Lol

Wish I could find a larger, clearer image but some of those were Doozies.

Talk about "winning ugly"...men's 12" softball, anyone?
