Wayne Gretzky from Edmonton to LA. Was horrible on hockey fans all across Canada but great for the USA.
I thought given the circumstances there was hardly any other choice.
Does not mean it did not hurt an entire nation aka Canada when he left. It sucked for a long long time. Sure now we can say he expanded hockey in the USA to many new cities because of his fame. But all us Canadians would have loved to have kept him in Edmonton.
He is/was the Babe Ruth of hockey a player like him comes around once and maybe never again. So yes we would have enjoyed having him in Canada but now it was a better move for the entire NHL due to him bringing so many new people into watching the sport.
