Do you have a sense on either point their true goal is to exceed PCGS, even with no source - just your sense?

Just a few worthy comments… Registry Sets are not always about rankings and points. It really is and should be about what is possible. There are some incredible sets at lower grades that really represent quality for the grade. And at certain grades, there is a rarity factor that is often lost for those that seek slabs over coins.

And another thought… the best Orioles teams played at Memorial Stadium which was demolished years ago. It was a neighborhood park from a time when MLB was different -including the beer and food that was consumed. The Natty Bohs were cold and one felt as if they were surrounded by ordinary people witnessing great baseball. Sadly the Season Jim Gentile had in 1961 that was overshadowed by Maris and Mantle is a distant memory except for those that lived it. And in all fairness, the seasons of Norm Cash and Rocky Colavito and to a lessor extent, Al Kaline, created a buzz in Detroit that was simply incredible and not seen since 1945.

My point is simply that there is so much that we miss if we skim the surface without taking a deeper dive into what really should matter.

I'm surprised they haven't rolled out sets for circulated coins, comparable to the PCGS "Everyman" sets.

That's been the plan, execution has been the challenge. I've been told that some important registry additions and modifications are in the works.

The CACG registry has only been up and running for a few months, apples and oranges to compare it to the PCGS registry which has been operating for several decades. I have no doubt that as it grows and new sets are added that it will become more popular.
