Nice brown patina with a hint of red in protected areas. Is it original or a restrike? What's it worth?

It has the look of a modern restrike. US Mint product? Probably not much value.

Those were first produced in the 1970s, so everything is an original.

The similar ones struck in the 1800s were much larger than 38 mm.

This is one of the Mint’s “miniature” Presidential medals. As mentioned, it was originally issued in the 1970’s; it was an initiative by Mint Director Mary Brooks to provide a product that even children could afford, especially for those that visited one of the Mints on a school field trip. This one was struck in Philadelphia. The Denver mint strikes are less common.

Full or nearly full sets, can be found frequently for between $35 and $75, with the original blue album. They were struck into the 21st century, but currently they are only producing some of the most recent presidents and some of the most popular presidents like Washington and Lincoln.

Lots of symbolism on that reverse there! The original, 19th century strikes are beautiful.
