1971 D Kennedy - How would you grade this reverse?

JWPJWP Posts: 22,730 ✭✭✭✭✭

This 1971 D JFK is a circulated coin and I would like your thoughts on grading the Reverse. The Eagle is my concern. It looks like a weak strike or wear. The rest of the Coin is nice for a coin out of circulation. It looks like a AU58 to me, but I'm not good at grading either. Thanks for your thoughts in advance. πŸ™‚

I'd also say it suffers from a weak strike but other than that it looks normal to me.

Hate to be the broken record, but yes, looks weakly struck. Very mushy on that shield. There appears to be a rather nasty scratch on the reverse going to the β€œU” in United States. The obverse looks like it has milk spots. The reverse really looks like it’s going to bring it down.

Unfortunately, those dang milk spots seem like a regular thing for 1970’s coinage. I can’t tell you how long it took me, and how many thousands of Ike dollars I looked at, before I finally found the MS68 silver Ike I settled on! Just always milk spots galore.

Thank God P0CKETCHANGE listed an amazing piece I jumped on here on our BST forum!!!

Having fun while switching things up and focusing on a next level PCGS slabbed 1950+ type set, while still looking for great examples for the 7070.

And don't call me Shirley! I like it. It'd be in my error binder as an interesting weak strike. Peace Roy

Thanks, hadn't thought about a weak strike being a possible error. Tanks again.
