So my coin dealer said this is a rare coin w/ mintage of 330K lower than the 09-SVDB, so I bought it & still have it. This was in the late 60s:

I changed a few times over the decades and ended up been happy with Latin American coins. The longest I have held a coin from Latin America has been a little over 2-3 years. Strange how it took me over 20 years (were I collected mostly Canadian coins) to finally settle down and be happy. I no longer see myself changing I am at peace with what I now collect.
I have no image (I do not own a camera) of that coin to share but it is a Mexico 1 real and as mentioned it was the first I purchased 2-3 years ago for my 1 real collection.

This quarter was amongst my first submission to pcgs as a crossover, and the sole survivor of that submission to remain in my collection. The others have moved on to other collectors.

I love to show a photo of it, but it's in the SDB right now. It's just an 1837 large cent in Fine that my Dad gave me back in '59 alone with a pouch of old coins, but the large cent really knocked me out and spawned my collecting. I was hoarding wheat cents and Dad noticed and surprised me with the pouch. It was a mixed bag of coins and one that stood out was an 1870 Newfoundland Half that I also a still have along with some Morgans that he gave me years later.

Found playing in the park in 1963...naked boob--12 year old boy..WOOHOO! I've been a bustchaser ever since.
I later learned that is was a nice EF. (Yes, back in the day we realized that the word extremely started with an E.) This is what it looks like now after 50 years as a pocket piece before being retired in 2013.
Very first coin. Given to me by a twin girl sister in 3rd grade.
Just because.
Wish I could remember which twin she was. One of them was my first exposure to suicide.

I have had this since my grandparents gave it to me in the early 80's. It was supposedly taken out of circulation by a family member many generations ago in the early 1800s.
I plucked this one from roll searching at my local bank when I was about 12yo. So, I've had it in my collection for over 50 years. I also have a few random Indian Head Cents gotten from a coffee can in my Grandfather's basement that may be a couple of years older... but this Kennedy Half is currently in my 7070.

No reverse pic. I bought this coin at an outdoor flea market in Waterbury, VT around 1982. Of items in my core collection that's about the longest tenure, and if there's anything that's been around longer then it's not by much. I have a few Morgan and Peace dollars around that my great grandfather tucked away in the early 1960's, but no pics of those.
