Hello Everyone,
I am heading to Denver soon for a brief vacation. Other than the US Mint, are there any other must see's in Denver? I thought that the American Numismatic Association had a museum there too? Any coin shops worth seeing? And how would one find out about any coin shows? Living in Alaska, I don't get a chance to visit coin shops very often, so really appreciate any suggestions here.
Thank you in advance!
Jeff

I would make time to check out the ANA museum in Colorado Springs. They have some amazing multi million dollar coins on display, and much more. Hallenbeck coin gallery is around the corner from there, they seemed like nice folks and I bought Lesher dollar from them at a fair price.

Go visit Red Rocks Amphitheatre and the music museum at the visitor's center and maybe casual hike around the rocks and go stand on the stage 18300 W Alameda Pkwy, Morrison, CO 80465
Dinosaur Ridge - Dinosaur fossils and footprints https://dinoridge.org/ and go up the Dakota Sandstone trails at the top, it's only a few extra minutes of walking for an awesome view of all of Red Rocks park.
These are both only a few minutes away from each other.
Bring water, hats, and maybe an umbrella

What about the Denver Money Museum? Anyone go there?
There used to be a historic marker near 16th and Market Streets, at the location of the former Clark, Gruber and Company Mint.
However, that block has been heavily developed in the past few years and, the 16th Street Mall is undergoing major renovations. I am not sure if the marker was placed elsewhere or removed completely.

I second this, ANA is with the visit, and Hallenbeck is my LCS here, wonderful place, fair prices, and I trust them. They are 1 person per associate, so may have to wait outside in a line to get let in, it's with the short wait, never more than a few minutes.
There are several coin shops in Denver area as well, I've bought from those shops at local shows, but I never go to Denver so I've never been in their shops.
Never heard of it. Are you thinking of the ANA Money Museum in Colorado Springs? Very nice, but I believe closed Mondays.
There’s the capitol building, if you’re into state history. You can tour the Coors brewery in Golden, which is closeby. I’ll second Kurisu’s suggestion of Dinosaur Ridge.
Something not numismatic related is the Graden of the Gods park, nice area for a walkabout.

See if the Rockies are in town. But with your moniker my guess is you've already done that.

I don't know when you're planning to be in Colorado but there is going to be a small coin show in Greeley Colorado on July 13th. It is not promoted online very much but if you're interested I can share more info.
Thank you! It'll be the last few days of the month of July.
Just remember that you are at altitude ( 5000 feet or more ) in the area.
YES! Double your water intake and be prepared with chapstick. It takes a couple days to adjust.

Who are you coming with? Kids? Spouse?
I can offer more suggestions, I'm in the Golden/Lakewood area...
Downtown Golden is a great place to do a bit of tourist shopping, get some Ice Cream and or a burger.
A few minutes from Golden and Dinosaur Ridge is Lookout Mountain, where Buffalo Bill's Grave is...a fun little museum and giftshop and amazing views and excellent local made fudge
You often see paragliders and rock climbers all around the Golden and School of Mines area (look for the big white M on the side of the hill West of Golden...and the big G near Table Top Mountain East of Golden.
There is also the Railroad Museum and the Quilt Museum in Golden...and of course the Coors Brewery tour as mentioned by Shurke.
There are tons of great light quick hikes everywhere...you could do some of the Big Easy (your Great Grandma could handle it) which is on 119...a fun twisty road along Clear Creeek from Golden up to Black Hawk where you could hang out and do some gambling or a buffet or whatever.
The ANA Money Museum in Colorado Springs is about an hour and 20 minutes from Golden and Denver and always worth a visit!
I'm a total local tourist, even after 32 years in the Denver area

Apparently rolls of 2024-D nickels are selling for like $100 on eBay. Maybe stop by a bank and see if they have some?

My son is starting at U. of Denver this fall so I appreciate this thread. Lots of reasons to visit.
Having fun while switching things up and focusing on a next level PCGS slabbed 1950+ type set, while still looking for great examples for the 7070.
