I like so many other collectors check my change for "W" mint marks. Didn't expect to find one at the beach with my metal detector!

Will definitely need some conservation when I get back home!
Nice find.
Congratulations on metal detecting a "W" quarter.

We do have a forum for metal detectors here, post there.
It will not conserve, spend it, it's damaged.

Congrats! That’s cool.
If you’re able to conserve it please share the details.
It can't be conserved although I'm sure you already knew that. It's nothing more than a souvenir of a fun day metal detecting on the beach with the memories being priceless. Not every neat coin needs to be entombed a plastic slab with some sticker to be enjoyed.

I would dare say that that might be the first W quarter ever found while metal detecting...
If only you could get it slabbed as such
