Anyone know how to fix/reclaim my old forum handle?

I spent a lot of time here from 2006-2011 under the handle GoldenEyeNumismatics. I'm slowly getting back into coins. When I logged back in here, my handle is now "GoldeneyeNumismaics" and my old history is not longer associated with me email. No clue why.

I see my old historical posts from "GoldenEyeNumismatics" are still searchable though -- it's still somewhere in the ether. I wouldn't really care except that I'd like to use the BST and it's easier to do that with my old history.

Is there a forum moderator? Or a support inbox? Any help is appreciated :)

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house

Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,

In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of MS65 Morgans danced in their heads;

    Can't you try to log in and just check the box that you've forgotten your password and have them email a new one?

    In any case, @PCGS_Moderator

    Howdy and welcome back. I remember you under your old forum name. It seems that what @JBK wrote might be something to try. Good luck!

    Already tried that! It's still showing me as a forum member since 2006 too. It's like it knows who I am, except it's not using the right handle anymore.

    Yea, it seems like an error occurred when the software was updated or something along those lines.

    Did you have two emails at the time by any chance? Part of me wonders if you spelled your handle wrong on this one, abandoned the account entirely, and just used a different email to create a new one.

  • That would make sense. I probably typo'd the first one, and remade a proper one a few weeks later. But I don't know what email address the "right" account is using. I figured it was the same one, but maybe not.

    Same with me. When I rejoined in 2020, I couldn’t get in my old account so I ended up Mr_Spud instead of MrSpud even though I somehow managed to get in as MrSpud a year earlier for a short period.

    I'll send your proper account a PM. That should push an email to whatever account you used, hopefully you still have it.

    That's a good idea and it is worth trying. However, it will only work if "Notification Preferences" have email selected when the user receives a PM. Otherwise, there will be no notification.

    Try logging in from a device or PC that you have not used to sign in, so that it does not remember your new ID details.

    Put in your old user name. It will give you the option under "Password" to click "Forgot?". Click on that and it will ask you for your email to send password recovery instructions to. Now, I'm not sure what will happen if the email you type in does not match the email on file...

  • I just tried sending myself a message to my old user name that I started in 2004 and could not get back into in 2018 after a hacking incident. Not showing up on any of my 3 current emails but sure is fun to look at my old posts again. Why I never thought of that when I rejoined is beyond me.

    Goldeneye. Glad to see you return. You had a quality business on EBay while going to a prestigious university if I remember correctly.
    Coins have a way of calling you back. Bit of a different crew here than then but a lot of the stalwarts like TomB, Mark Feld, capt Henway, MrEureka are still here.
