How do you publish a registry set and turn off the ability of people to see the details of the set?
I see the Allow public to view set item details but either checked or unchecked the details are available to view
Thx in advance

I'm not very active on the registry so this might be a poor idea, but might it be that you can always see the details to the set because you are the set owner and are always logged into the registry? If so, you might try logging out of the registry and then looking up the set.
Again, I might be off-base with that suggestion.

I thought that as well, but I was logged out and still saw the details...I'll try it on a different computer, as that might be the answer

NGC will only give out awards if open to public viewing.
PCGS has no such ruling. So you can get awards without public discosure.
I like NGC policy better. its transparent to all to see why the award was given.

I have been asked a number of times to head up a stickering service dedicated to modern coins. Most recently by a “household name” in the numismatic arena. I have obviously passed every time. One consideration I have always had is continuing to collect coins in the Set Registry competitions where I would be including coins in my sets with my own stickers awarded to them. I wouldn’t want there even to be a remote possibility of the suggestion of a conflict of interest in the coins I am publicly competing with.
James is the new PNG President (I believe still runs a stickering service?) and a respected numismatist. I’m not personally sure why it makes sense to close a new #1 set of Registry coins as it is important in my opinion (as Krueger clearly suggests) to transparently show everyone the very coins deserving of the award. It isn’t as if I am unaware which coins I elected to stop bidding on recently that could have also greatly helped the “points” for my set. But, I am sure James has given this all careful thought and is thoughtfully addressing any issues (if any) that may come of running a modern stickering service while at the same time submitting a closed set of modern coins to set registry that may or may not include some of his stickers.
Full disclosure - James’ new #1 set of MS Ikes knocks one (or possibly two) of my currently handful of #1 Ike sets out of first place. Again, I personally know which Ikes I passed on continuing to bid for that would have improved the numerical registry grade of my sets to quite possibly keep me in first place in all my current Ike registry sets (instead of the majority of my Ike sets now).
Congratulations James on building another top set of MS Ikes. I, for one, would enjoy seeing all the coins you have selected for your set. I also appreciate that you posted your set many days before the set registry deadline instead of minutes before the deadline. Always the more classy way to go about it in my opinion.

Mitch...Just following your lead. Why are your sets closed?
As for coins in my set that are QA, there is a grand total of 1 that is stickered, and that's because I do not sticker coins that I own (or trying to sell). We do buy and sell QA coins, just like John Albanese with CAC.
Some of the coins in my new set are incredible, others are plastic, so I would not sticker all of them. Many are CAC stickered as they stand.

James, Congratulations in your new well-deserved role at PNG.
I only collect silver Ike's, and mine are satisfactory examples, but not a priority for me compared to a few other coins or medals.

Well, _two _of us in the top five spots of 'that' set have our stuff set to public. Seriously, what's the point of bragging about being the best, if you're not going to show anyone what 'the best' looks like? If you're going to be competing in a public registry, it shouldn't be hidden from the public.
‘’Mitch...Just following your lead. Why are your sets closed?’’
Hey James. I have 0 issues opening the sets and agree with the NGC rule that no set should be recognized if it is closed. In fact, I actually thought PCGS already had that rule in place!
Since you are following my lead, we can both open up our Ike sets whenever you tell me that sounds good with you. I’ll open up EVERY Ike set I have registered (either 5-6 different sets) and you only have to open up the one or two you just registered. Sound good James? Other Ike enthusiasts can see the coins we both elected to place in our two top sets (including the “plastic” as you put it and the incredible ones too).
Oldsmagnet- your position is very reasonable. PCGS should decline to recognize ANY registry set that is closed. If they are reading this - please institute that rule effective July 1 for all future registry competitions.
Wondercoin.
It would be nice to see the top sets open ... the True Views come in handy for seeing top graded coins ++++
I have all of my unfinihed sets dark, the check mark is off. On my finished sets I open it up for viewing.
Although YOU can see the set when you open up the sets NO ONE ELSE CAN if you have the check off
Hope this helps
