It's a 1925 S. I looked at values on uncirculated 1925 S Peace dollars and I think it would be a good investment for me to get rid of that dark film.

Excellent point. Start a new thread and ask that question. I'll be the first one to reply.

I’m still trying to figure out what is on this Peace. Beginning to think it’s putty or some kind of doctoring.

I’m pretty sure all of those or most of them were done while Phil and his group were still around. Those coins are actually PL Although not all of them received the designation.

Now, I do have a recent ew-view that came out black and the coin I sent in not only for the full bands, but also for the beautiful and colorful toning. Womp womp.

Unfortunately, I already have another order in the queue and when they come back looking like this, I will be packing all of them up and sending them to CACD . This shitaki has gotten too ridiculous.

Can anyone show a black silver coin with terminal toning with a CAC sticker?

The subject of this thread is "black coins". I don't consider your coin to qualify as a "black coin". Your coin is actually quite attractive.

My "Dark Peace Dollar" set had the black color as the primary criteria for acquisition, first 2 did not straight grade. I have a date set of the, but these were the blackest of the black. It's my favorite look on these coins

My favorite look as well for Peace dollars. This coin is stunning!

I agree, it's my favorite one, and the best part was it only cost $20 as a cull in the bargain bin. Pcgs has it as Environmental damage, but I love the look.

I love that look and would easily pay up for it if it straight grades. I've seen worse environmentally damaged coins with CAC stickers on them, even with bright, acid-etched rims. IMO, the TPGs including CAC are inconsistent in determining that line between 'glorious' original toning and hideous environmental damage. Your 1922 looks better than those CAC coins in my CAC "Hall of Shame". It shows no obvious pitting, etching, or bright, acid-chewed rims yet it gets a details grade. IMO, it should straight grade.

Looks pretty black to me, jmo. I love it because most 83 CC's are white and brilliant, this one saw much use in commerce. Nearly 63% of the original mintage was released by the GSA in March of 1964.

Obverse R through Y, reverse O through G on the sunnywood toning scale. It's not completely black but as close as I have. MS63 Green CAC

No pictures because it's in the SBD but I have a 1921 peace dollar that's all black after 100 years in a sock drawer.
