Finally taking the plunge... Morgan Dansco

spyglassdesignspyglassdesign Posts: 1,625 ✭✭✭✭✭

Finally taking the plunge and bought the 2 morgan dansco books. Already have 30+ spots filled 😅 a few tough years too, 1896-o,1891-o,1897-o, 1887-s.

This is going to be, and already is fun! Might do the date only dansco with toners next 🤔

That is going to be quite a plunge and accomplishment when it's done. Keep us posted. Best of luck and enjoy the project. 👍

Not at the moment but I do check for vams when I get Morgan's in!

Nice! I’m doing similar to Lordmarcovan, just a Morgan date set. Only it’s mostly BU and in a large Wayte Raymond Album. I was able to fill 17 holes just by going through my raw coins I had just lying around.

I've got a date only book 7171 and the peace dollar book on the way... For the date only I'm considering doing a pl/dmpl and monster toners... Maybe. Either way won't be cheap so that one will probably take a good while!

    Enjoy the journey!

Morgan dollars are an interesting set, for a variety of reasons. And fun to collect, since so many of them are quite common and easy to find/afford in high grades (to me, MS63 qualifies as "high grade"). But there also are a LOT of very expensive ones (though none that are particularly hard to find); particularly those minted from 1892 through 1895, and the Carson City examples from other years.

I have enjoyed collecting them a great deal; I hope you do, too.
