a very cheap coin (worth not even a dollar) that's still easy to appreciate

I grade it AU-58. It'd have to grade probably at least MS-63 to be worth anything but the look of this 1940-D nickel still appeals to me. Enjoy!

I love it. It would look superb in an album! Congrats!

I am a newer collector (started April 2020), and I primarily focus on U.S. Half Cents and Type Coins. Early copper is my favorite.

Not a thing wrong with that one except it doesn't belong to me. Would make a real nice 7070 coin. I still pull coins from circulation too that catch my eye.

May be a 40 D/D. Not sure but think so. Nice color.

@OldeTowneCoinShoppe - very enjoyable post, and it's a friendly gesture to offer that nice nickel to a collector who appreciates it. Tip o'the hat to you!

The reverse of a 65 Jeff, 50 cents at a local coin show, unless anyone can confirm this is a FS.

Cutting through all the numismatic numismatics, this is the essence of coin collecting.

Disclaimer: I'm not a dealer, trader, grader, investor or professional numismatist. I'm just a hobbyist. (To protect me but mostly you! 🤣 )

  • If anybody would care to own this coin at no cost, PM me your address and first name and I'll send it to you.

If you want to PM me a mailing address, you can have it  .

I should have mentioned, I pulled it from a Library of Coins album where it was the only one grading above Fine or so. The rest of the set is pretty low grade.

    A wonderful gesture, thank you.

I was unable to get online the past couple of days and just now saw this post. I am glad it found a home.
