If someone here is looking for a 1733 Mexico 1 real MX MF PCGS F-15

I own one in lower grade but can't afford this one to upgrade so mine will have to do for now.

They rarely show up for sale in any grade and this is the highest I have seen in 2 years of this variation. If you negotiate with them you may get it at around 1550$.

Great example. I have debated on collecting a date run of 2 Reales but the 1733 scares me away from pursuing it.

Milled 1732's would be the one to ''scare me'' in the 2 reales series (or all denominations really except the 8 reales if you have the money you will find one with time) I have yet to see even 1 for sale in the last 4-5 years of the 2 reales.

The milled 1733's are not easy in any of the lower denominations 1/2 real to 4 reales. If you have the funds you will find the 1733 milled 8 reales again with time they show up a couple times per year not all varieties but the same 2 or 3 varieties.

I don't consider the 1733 1R that scarce as a date, only by variety. I don't look for any of these anymore but used to see if often enough when I did. I used to own it as an NGC VG-8. It appears to have a reputational scarcity above its actual availability.

The 1733 1/2R and 2R are harder or much harder to buy vs. the 1R and 4R. in decent or better quality, comparable to the scarcer Peru Charles III dates. I recall one decent 1/2R, an NGC XF-40 sold by Stacks. One or maybe two 2R but lower grade.

That may very well be the case I only have experience over the last 4-5 years you have decades so you are most likely correct WCC. This is the nicest 1733 1 real of this variety I have seen myself I own a NGC P-02 (low grade sure but looks pretty nice I was actually surprised in a good way over the images when I purchased it) and that was the highest before this one came up for sale. They may be locked up in collections now vs when you use to see more of them for sale.

I am not after the 1Rs, but if they show up and I like them and fit me I will try to buy them.

I saw one recently 1R 1733 buy it and then they told me that it was sold in their store, so they cancelled my transaction. It was there, if I recall correctly, for 400 Euros.

A month later, on a trip to a coin show, there was one 1733 for sale at $1,000USD. Not in very nice condition and to me it looked like it was cleaned, did not buy it.

Another one that I saw at an auction Briggs & Bustos in Mexico City, a 1733 MX MF/F was sold for $1,000USD. This was in 2022.

    All raw.

NGC has graded 9 in numerical grades and PCGS 3 in numerical grades of this variety MX MF.

That’s a very nice looking piece! I used to own one, but sold it a couple years ago. Certainly not the toughest date, not easy either. The MX version is just so interesting.

Stacks sold the NGC AU-58 within the last 10 years though I'd have to look it up to confirm the exact date. Sold for about $2K to my recollection. Then it sold a few years later for (I recall) about $5K.

Another one I let get away.

That would have been a cool one

There is one on eBay for $500 - maybe in VG or less - Now I checked on their site and the coin is not there, so maybe it is already sold.

I almost purchased that coin for my set last year but the weight of it simply made me not add it to my collection.

    WEIGHT: 2.74 GRAMS

I am OK with my NGC P-02 (looks decent for the grade could be a G-04) for now maybe next year or 2026 I will upgrade it if possible.
